Installer's take

The 10" X Series sits in the sweet spot of the lineup for trunk builds where the 12" is marginal on space and the 8" does not have enough cone area. At 32" wide and 18" deep it fits most standard sedan and midsize SUV trunks without custom fabrication. The 31 Hz tuning is lower than most generic 10" ported boxes on the market. That is intentional, the Solo-X L7X 10" T/S parameters call for it. You will get more low-end extension out of this enclosure than you would from a universal 10" box tuned at 35–38 Hz, with port velocity controlled correctly at 30.6 square inches of port area. The difference is audible, particularly on material with content in the 28–35 Hz range. The dual-layer baffle handles the L7X 10" motor load correctly. The internal bracing is placed to address the larger panel spans on a 2.0 ft³ enclosure, at this volume the unsupported panel surfaces are significantly larger than on the single 8" and bracing placement matters more, not less. At 65 lbs this ships UPS Ground. Shipping is included. No freight line item at checkout. Lead time is 2–4 business days from order.

Questions

Why is this enclosure tuned to 31 Hz when most 10" ported boxes are tuned at 35–38 Hz?

Because the Solo-X L7X 10" Thiele-Small parameters call for it. Generic 10" ported enclosures are tuned to a range that maximizes output numbers for a broad range of drivers, not for any specific driver. The Pro KIK 10 SX is tuned to the point where the L7X 10"'s low-end extension and output efficiency intersect correctly. Running this driver in a box tuned at 35–38 Hz produces a louder midband and less of the low-end extension the Solo-X 10" is capable of. The 31 Hz tuning is not a compromise. It is the correct spec for this driver.

Can I use this enclosure with a different 10" subwoofer?

Not recommended. The square baffle cutout is machined specifically to the L7X platform geometry and will not accept a standard round 10" driver. Beyond the physical fitment issue, the internal volume and port tuning are calculated for the Solo-X L7X 10"'s specific Thiele-Small parameters. Running a different driver in this enclosure will produce results that deviate from that driver's optimal alignment. If you need an enclosure for a different 10" driver, contact us with your driver specs and we will find the right solution.

How does the single 10" compare to the single 8" and single 12" in the X Series lineup?

The single 8" is the most space-efficient configuration, 0.88 ft³ net, 39 Hz tuning, 28" wide. It fits where the 10" will not. The single 10" steps up to 2.0 ft³ net, 31 Hz tuning, 32" wide, more cone area, more low-end extension, larger footprint. The single 12" increases volume and port area further for the Solo-X 12" driver with a larger install footprint still. All three are independently engineered to their respective driver's T/S parameters. They are not scaled versions of each other. If you are between sizes, contact us and we will help you choose based on your available space and output goals.

How does the X Series differ from the Proline X Performance Series?

The Performance Series is a universal fit enclosure designed to work well with a broad range of subwoofers in the correct size range. Volume and port tuning are optimized for a general driver category. The X Series is driver-specific. Every enclosure is engineered to the published Thiele-Small parameters of the Kicker Solo-X L7X at that specific size. If you are running a Solo-X, the X Series is the correct enclosure. If you are running a different driver, the Performance Series is likely the better fit. Contact us if you are unsure which applies to your build.

What amplifier do I need for this enclosure?

The Solo-X L7X 10" is rated for 500–1000W RMS depending on the variant. Match your amplifier's RMS output at your wiring impedance to that range. A Class D monoblock with stable low-impedance output and a damping factor above 200 will give you the best control over this driver at the 31 Hz tuning point. We carry amplifiers from Goldhorn, Prodigy, and other brands that pair well with this power range. Contact us with your wiring plan and budget and we will give you a specific recommendation.

What is the lead time and how does shipping work?

Lead time is 2–4 business days from order across all X Series enclosures. The Pro KIK 10 SX ships at 65 lbs via UPS Ground to the lower 48 states. Shipping is included in the price. No freight line item at checkout. Inspect the packaging before signing for delivery and photograph any exterior damage before opening.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping material inside this enclosure?

No. The Pro KIK 10 SX is a ported enclosure. Polyfill is a sealed enclosure technique that simulates increased box volume. In a ported enclosure it disrupts port function and alters the effective tuning frequency. The internal volume and port tuning are calculated for the L7X 10" without any fill material. Install the driver, connect the terminal cup, seal the driver gasket, and use the enclosure as built.

How do I confirm this will fit my vehicle before ordering?

External dimensions are 32" wide × 13.75" tall × 18" deep. Width is the primary constraint in most trunk applications, measure your available install space at the widest point and account for wheel well intrusion, interior trim, and any hardware in the install area. The 13.75" height fits in most sedan trunks and midsize SUV cargo areas without clearance issues. The 18" depth is the floor-to-back dimension. At 65 lbs, two people are recommended for positioning and securing this enclosure. Contact us before ordering if you want help confirming fitment for a specific vehicle.
