Installer's take

The 8" Solo-X is a driver that gets underestimated because of cone diameter. The Xmax on this driver is not proportional to its size. It moves significantly more air than a generic 8" subwoofer at the same power level, and it needs an enclosure that accounts for that. A generic 8" ported box at 0.6–0.7 cu ft with a port tuned at 42–45 Hz will not load this driver correctly. The X Series single 8" was built around the published spec, not around what fits on a shelf. At 28" wide and 14.5" deep, this enclosure is suited for dedicated trunk builds in compact and midsize vehicles, hatchback cargo areas, and custom installs where space is limited but the Solo-X 8" needs to be loaded correctly to perform. Width is the primary dimension to check. 28" is the constraint on most applications. Confirm your available space before ordering. The dual-layer baffle is not cosmetic on this build. A 225 oz. motor cycling against a single-layer front panel at high excursion will flex it, the baffle needs the mass and rigidity to stay inert. Same logic applies to the internal bracing: this driver pressurizes the enclosure on every transient, and bracing controls where that energy goes. At 45 lbs this ships UPS Ground. Shipping is included. No freight line item at checkout. Lead time is 2–4 business days from order.

Questions

Is this enclosure compatible with both the 1Ω and 2Ω versions of the Kicker Solo-X L7X 8"?

Yes. The enclosure is impedance-neutral, the internal volume, port tuning, and baffle geometry are identical regardless of which version you are running. The 1Ω DVC (49L7X81) and 2Ω DVC (49L7X82) share the same physical dimensions and square cone geometry. Impedance selection affects your amplifier wiring configuration, not the enclosure.

Can I use this enclosure with a different 8" subwoofer?

Not recommended. The square baffle cutout is machined specifically to the L7X platform geometry and will not accept a standard round 8" driver. Beyond the physical fitment issue, the internal volume and port tuning are calculated for the Solo-X L7X 8"'s specific Thiele-Small parameters. Running a different driver in this enclosure will produce results that deviate from both drivers' optimal alignments. If you need an enclosure for a different 8" driver, contact us with your driver specs and we will find the right solution.

Why is this enclosure more expensive than a generic 8" box?

Because it is not a generic 8" box. Generic enclosures are built to a price point: MDF sourced without published specifications, butt-jointed panels, port tuning that approximates rather than calculates. The Pro KIK 8 SX is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF with published mill data, joined with V-groove and dado interlocking joinery, braced throughout the internal structure, and tuned to Kicker's exact published specification for the L7X 8". The terminal cup is built in-house. Every unit is hand-assembled and inspected in Tennessee before it ships. It carries a 2-year warranty and ships with no freight charge. You are paying for an enclosure that was engineered for this specific driver, not one that was sized close enough and finished fast. This enclosure is not that box.

What amplifier do I need for this enclosure?

The Solo-X L7X 8" is rated for 400–800W RMS. Match your amplifier's RMS output at your wiring impedance to that range, not peak, not max burst, RMS at the load you are running. A Class D monoblock with stable low-impedance output and a damping factor above 200 will give you the best control over this driver. We carry amplifiers from Goldhorn, Prodigy, and other brands that pair well with this power range and driver size. Contact us with your wiring plan and budget and we will give you a specific recommendation.

What is the lead time and how does shipping work?

Lead time is 2–4 business days from order. These are built in our Tennessee facility, not pulled from generic inventory. Once complete, the enclosure ships UPS Ground to the lower 48 states. At 45 lbs it does not require freight. Shipping is included in the price. No additional line item at checkout.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping material inside this enclosure?

No. The Pro KIK 8 SX is a ported enclosure. Polyfill is a sealed enclosure technique that simulates increased box volume by slowing the speed of sound inside the chamber. In a ported enclosure it disrupts port function and changes the effective tuning frequency. The internal volume and port tuning are calculated for the L7X 8" without any fill material. Install the driver, connect the terminal cup, seal the driver gasket, and use the enclosure as built.

How do I confirm this will fit my vehicle before ordering?

External dimensions are 28" wide × 10.5" tall × 14.5" deep. Width is the primary constraint, measure your available install space at the widest point and account for wheel well intrusion, interior trim, and any hardware in the install area. The 10.5" height fits behind most rear seat backs and under most trunk lids without clearance issues. The 14.5" depth is the floor-to-back dimension. At 45 lbs, one person can position and secure this enclosure without assistance. Contact us before ordering if you want help confirming fitment for a specific vehicle. We would rather sort that out before purchase than after.

What does the warranty cover and how do I make a claim?

Every Proline X X Series enclosure carries a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. This covers structural integrity, joint failure, terminal cup defects, and finish separation under normal use. It does not cover damage from improper installation, overpowering, physical impact, or moisture exposure. Claims are handled directly by Audio Intensity. There is no third-party process. Contact us by phone, text, or email with your order details and a description of the issue and we will take it from there.
