Installer's take
The IDMAX 12 V4 is one of the most forgiving high-excursion SQ drivers on the market in terms of listening versatility, but it still needs the box to do its job. The Qts of 0.58 tells you right away this driver wants a sealed enclosure with enough volume to let it breathe. Stuff it in a small box and the Qtc climbs, the low end gets punchy but thin, and you lose the extension that makes the IDMAX 12 worth what it costs. At 1.1 ft³, this enclosure keeps the driver in its linear operating range. You get the deep, controlled low-end extension the V4 is capable of without the resonance issues that come with oversized airspace. The double-layer baffle isn't cosmetic, the IDMAX 12 generates significant back-pressure at high excursion, and a single-layer front panel will flex under sustained high-power use. The threaded inserts matter here too. This driver mounts with hardware, and a bolt-pattern-matched insert keeps the driver seated correctly under excursion.
