Installer's take
The NB5-15 is a serious motor, 27.33 Tm BL (D2), 280 ounces of ferrite, 2.75" flat aluminum voice coil, 27mm one-way Xmax, 1200W RMS. It needs an enclosure sized for what it actually does. This box delivers 3.0 cu ft net ported at 33Hz with 48 sq in of port area. The port area is the number most builders cut corners on with a 15" at this volume. 48 sq in keeps air velocity manageable at 1200W and eliminates chuffing at sustained output. Baffle is 2.25" triple-layer, three full sheets of Langboard Elite bonded and cut as one unit. Heaviest baffle in the Professional Series lineup. Threaded inserts through the baffle, 8/32 machine screws, metal-to-metal throughout. Single terminal cup, pre-wired 12g OFC to your selected impedance. Front panel has Prodigy Audio logo acrylic inserts. Laser-cut in-house. This is a finished build, not a plain carpet box. Box is 32" × 17" H × 19.5" D external. The 19.5" depth is the critical dimension. This is a dedicated trunk build. Verify depth clearance before ordering. Enclosure-only ships at ~65 lbs. Bundle with the NB5-15 ships at ~110 lbs. Why is the enclosure tuned to 33Hz for the NB5-15?
The NB5-15 has an Fs of 35–36Hz and a Qts of 0.485–0.536 depending on variant. Tuning at 33Hz, just below the driver's resonant frequency, prioritizes low-frequency extension and output smoothness over a peaked SPL response. The result is deep, controlled bass output with a gradual rolloff rather than a sharp efficiency peak at a higher frequency. For daily drivers and SQ-oriented builds, 33Hz is the right tuning for this driver in this volume.
What is the 2.25" triple-layer baffle and why does it matter?
The front baffle is 2.25" thick: three full sheets of 3/4" Langboard Elite MDF bonded and CNC-cut as a single unit. The NB5-15 has a BL factor of 27.33 Tm (D2), exceptionally high for a 15" driver, which means significant mechanical force is transmitted to the baffle at 1200W RMS. The triple-layer construction eliminates baffle flex entirely. Combined with threaded inserts and 8/32 machine screws, the driver stays precisely mounted at every output level. This is the heaviest baffle in the Proline X Professional Series lineup. Sized for the motor that's going in front of it.
What is the Prodigy Audio branded acrylic insert?
The Prodigy Audio logo is laser-cut into acrylic inserts mounted on the front panel of this enclosure. The cutting is done in-house at Audio Intensity on a Full Spectrum Pro48 CO2 laser. It is a finished detail that visually identifies this as a purpose-built Prodigy Audio Professional Series enclosure, not a plain-carpet generic box.
What does pre-wired mean exactly?
The Proline X terminal cup comes pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC speaker wire run from the terminal to the driver mounting location inside the enclosure. On the bundle variant the driver is already connected. On the enclosure-only variant, connect your NB5-15's voice coil leads to the internal wiring when you install the driver. Connect your amplifier's speaker output to the terminal cup and the system is ready to run.
Is shipping included on both variants?
Yes. Shipping is fully included on both the enclosure-only and bundle variants, no freight charges, no handling fees at checkout. The enclosure-only variant ships via UPS Ground at approximately 65 lbs. The bundle with the NB5-15 ships at approximately 110 lbs. Allow 2–5 business days for final assembly before it ships.
Will this enclosure fit in my vehicle?
The enclosure is 32" wide, 17" tall, and 19.5" deep. The 19.5" depth is the critical dimension. This is a dedicated trunk build and requires significant trunk depth to accommodate it. Measure your available install space carefully before ordering, particularly depth from the back seat to the trunk floor. The 32" width and 17" height should also be verified against your vehicle's trunk opening and floor dimensions.
Does the enclosure come assembled and ready to install?
The enclosure-only variant arrives fully assembled, carpeted, and pre-wired, install the NB5-15 into the baffle opening using 8/32 machine screws into the threaded inserts, connect the driver's voice coil leads to the internal wiring at your selected impedance, and connect your amplifier to the terminal cup. The bundle variant arrives with the driver already installed and pre-wired. Connect your amplifier and go.
