Installer's take

Two L7X 12" drivers in a correctly tuned 6.0 ft³ enclosure is the highest front-firing output configuration in the X Series. Both drivers and the port face forward. This is a traditional trunk or cargo floor install, no special vehicle orientation required. The two terminal cups are on the side panel. Wire from the side before the enclosure is fully positioned. Access gets tight once it's in place at 44" wide and 27.5" deep. Both of those dimensions need to clear before you order. Width at 44" is the constraint that eliminates this enclosure from most compact and midsize trunks. Depth at 27.5" requires a full trunk floor-to-seat clearance that most sedans can accommodate but not all. Measure at the narrowest point of your trunk opening for width, and from the rear seat back to the rear of the trunk floor for depth. The 31 Hz tuning is where the L7X 12" T/S parameters point: for two drivers in a shared chamber, same as for one. Generic dual-12" enclosures run 34–38 Hz. The difference in the 28–35 Hz range with two 12" motors correctly loaded is not subtle. Triple-layer baffle at 2.25" is the correct spec for two large-format competition motors. Do not build this driver count into a dual-layer front panel, the combined excursion force at competition power will flex it. Run 8 AWG or larger from each terminal cup to the amplifier. Plan your full electrical system before selecting amplifier power at 1000–2000W RMS per driver, two drivers at the upper end of that range is a serious sustained current draw. This ships freight. Freight is included. Lead time is 2–4 business days. Schedule someone to help receive and move it. Curbside delivery only.

Questions

Is this a shared-chamber enclosure or does each driver get its own chamber?

The Pro KIK 12D is a shared-chamber ported enclosure. Both Solo-X L7X 12" drivers load into a single tuned volume with a common port on the front face. The 6.0 ft³ net internal volume and 31 Hz tuning are calculated for two drivers operating together in that shared space, not for two independent chambers. The 91 square inch port area is sized for the combined displacement both drivers generate at sustained output.

Why are the drivers and port on the front face instead of the rear?

The dual 12" uses a front-firing configuration. Both drivers and the port exit the front face, and the terminal cups are on the side panel. This is a standard trunk-forward install orientation. The enclosure sits on the trunk floor or cargo surface with drivers and port loading rearward into the cabin. No special vehicle type or orientation is required. This differs from the dual 15" and dual 18" configurations, which use an upfiring SUV-style orientation.

How do I wire two Solo-X 12" drivers in this enclosure?

Wiring depends on the voice coil impedance of the drivers you are running and the impedance your amplifier is stable at. Two Single 2Ω drivers wired in parallel gives you a 1Ω final load. Two Single 4Ω drivers wired in parallel gives you 2Ω. Two Single 2Ω drivers wired in series gives you 4Ω. Each driver has its own terminal cup on the side panel. Confirm your amplifier's stable output impedance before selecting your driver configuration. Contact us with your amplifier model and wiring plan and we will confirm the correct configuration before you order.

What amplifier do I need for this enclosure?

The Solo-X L7X 12" is rated for 1000–2000W RMS per driver. Two drivers means 2000–4000W RMS total system input at full rated power depending on your wiring configuration. A high-current Class D monoblock stable at 1Ω or 2Ω is the correct amplifier category for this build. At this power level, plan your complete electrical system, upgraded alternator, additional battery capacity, and appropriate wiring gauge from battery to amplifier, before selecting an amplifier. Run 8 AWG or larger from each terminal cup to the amplifier. We carry amplifiers from Goldhorn, Prodigy, and other brands suited to this application. Contact us with your wiring plan and budget for a specific recommendation.

How does freight shipping work for this enclosure?

The Pro KIK 12D ships via freight carrier to the lower 48 states. Freight is included in the price. No additional shipping charge at checkout. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Someone must be present at delivery. This is curbside delivery only, the carrier will not bring the enclosure inside. Arrange assistance for moving it to your install location before the delivery date. Before signing the delivery receipt, inspect all packaging from every side and photograph it. If you see damage, note it on the delivery receipt before signing. Contact us immediately if damage is found.

Can I use this enclosure with a different 12" subwoofer?

Not recommended. The square baffle cutouts are machined specifically to the L7X 12" platform geometry at 11-1/16" square and will not accept standard round 12" drivers. Beyond the physical fitment issue, the internal volume, tuning, and port area are derived from the Solo-X L7X 12" Thiele-Small parameters for two drivers in a shared enclosure. Running different drivers in this enclosure will produce results that deviate from those drivers' optimal alignments. Contact us with your driver specs and we will find the right solution.

What is the lead time for this enclosure?

Lead time is 2–4 business days from order. Once complete the enclosure ships freight. Freight delivery adds additional transit time depending on your location. Contact us after ordering if you need a timeline estimate for your build schedule.

How do I confirm this will fit my vehicle before ordering?

External dimensions are 44" wide × 16" tall × 27.5" deep. Width and depth are both binding constraints. For width, measure at the narrowest point of your trunk opening, not the widest point of the trunk floor. The enclosure must pass through the opening to be installed. For depth, measure from the rear seat back to the rear of the trunk floor at floor level. The 16" height fits below the window line in most full-size sedan trunks and SUV cargo areas. At this size and weight, two people are required for positioning and securing. Contact us before ordering if you want help confirming fitment for a specific vehicle.
