This enclosure holds 0.55 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Arc Audio SW10D2 runs a system Qtc of 0.84–0.86 with half power at 45.2–45.9 Hz, and the cone reaches its 14.7 mm travel limit at 733 W, above the driver’s 350 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 786 W — +52 W, or 7 percent more power for the same 14.7 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

At 53.0–54.4 the SW10D2 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 39.3 Hz free-air to 53–53 Hz and half power lands at 45.2–45.9 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 14.7 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 14.7 mm. Unfiltered that is 733 W, reached first at 30 Hz. It sits above the 350 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 786 W before hitting the same 14.7 mm. That is 7 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

A dual 10 that stands 8 inches tall. That is only 3 inches more than the single SW10 cabinet, and it comes from the driver: at 2.4 inches of mounting depth the SW10 is the shallowest thing in this program, so stacking two chambers costs less height than it would with anything else.

Each chamber is 0.601 gross, which is Arc's optimum recommendation almost to the decimal. Per driver that is Qtc 0.845 with Fc 53.1 Hz and F3 45.9 Hz - identical to the single-driver cabinet. Same character, roughly 6 dB more headroom, 676 square centimeters of cone across the pair.

Separate chambers, as always on a dual sealed build. Two drivers sharing one volume interact acoustically, with each one's compression stroke becoming the pressure environment the other is working against. That smears transients and blurs the alignment either would have alone. A full-height bonded divider stops it cold.

Same honest note as the single: Fs is 39.3 Hz and Vas is 12.96 liters, so F3 lands in the mid 40s rather than the 30s. That is the cost of a 2.4 inch motor. If your install has clearance for a deeper driver, take one. If it does not, this is a dual 10 with 700 watts RMS combined in a cabinet that fits where nothing else will, and it plays clean within its range.

Wiring: one side-mounted cup feeds both driver positions in parallel. Set your final impedance at the drivers by how you wire each one's coils. Wire both identically, since mismatched wiring between chambers splits power unevenly. Arc publishes T/S for both series and parallel configurations and they are nearly identical, so the cabinet is correct either way.

Questions

How is a dual 10 enclosure only 8 inches tall?

Two reasons. First, the Arc Audio SW10 mounts in just 2.4 inches, the shallowest driver in the Proline X Down Fire program, so the driver itself consumes very little of the cabinet height. Second, Arc's optimum sealed volume for this driver is only 0.6 cubic feet gross per chamber, which is modest. Combine a shallow driver with a small target volume and a dual chamber cabinet lands at 8 inches, only about 3 inches taller than the single-driver version.

Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?

Because two drivers in a shared sealed volume interact acoustically. Each driver's compression phase becomes the pressure environment the other driver is working against, which smears transient response and blurs the alignment each would have on its own. A full-height bonded 3/4 inch MDF divider eliminates that completely. Each SW10 gets its own 0.601 cubic feet gross, its own polyfill, and produces its own clean sealed alignment. Separate chambers are the standing design rule on every Proline X dual sealed enclosure.

How does this compare to the single 10 inch SW Down Fire enclosure?

Acoustically identical per driver, roughly 6 dB more maximum output. Both give each SW10 Arc's optimum 0.6 cubic feet gross and land at Qtc 0.845 with F3 at 45.9 Hz. The difference is physical: both share the 30 by 15 inch footprint, but the single stands 5.0625 inches tall and the dual stands 8. The dual doubles cone area to 676 cm² and combined power handling to 700 watts RMS with no change in character.

How is this enclosure wired, and how do I set my final impedance?

The enclosure uses one side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel. You do not wire the two chambers separately at the amplifier.

Final impedance is set at the drivers. Each SW10 is a dual voice coil subwoofer, available in dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm, so you choose how to wire the two coils on each driver and that determines the load the amplifier sees through the cup. Wire both drivers identically, since mismatched wiring between chambers will split power unevenly. Arc publishes Thiele-Small data for both series and parallel wiring and the two are nearly identical, so the enclosure alignment is correct either way.

Why does this page list gross volume when other enclosures list net?

Because Arc Audio publishes their sealed enclosure recommendations as gross volume rather than net, which is unusual. Most manufacturers state net volume, meaning the airspace remaining after the driver's displacement is subtracted. Arc states total internal volume before displacement. We built each chamber to 0.601 cubic feet gross to match Arc's published 0.6 gross optimum, roughly 0.55 net per chamber. Both figures appear in the specifications so you can compare against either convention.

Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?

Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which is what keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The chamber divider is a full-height bonded 3/4 inch panel. Front baffles are double-layer at 1.5 inches, two bonded 3/4 inch sheets, at both driver positions. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill in each chamber complete the build. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Are the Arc Audio SW10 subwoofers included with this enclosure?

No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own pair of Arc Audio SW10 subwoofers in either dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm. The cutouts and mounting depth are direct fit at both driver positions for either version.
