Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
0.50 cu ft against a 19.8 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 15.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.
| Param | Value | Unit | Note |

| Vas | 19.82 | L | equivalent compliance |
| Sd | 365.0 | cm² | effective piston area |

Installer's take
Two TW3 10s, two separate chambers, each at JL's own 0.50 net optimum. Per chamber that is Qtc 0.960, above the maximally flat reference, twice over. Same character as the single cabinet, roughly 6 dB more headroom, 800 watts RMS combined and 730 square centimeters of cone.
The TW3 is the driver that legitimized shallow subwoofers. 15.2mm of one-way linear excursion in a 3.25 inch mounting depth, from JL's patented Thin-Line architecture. Most shallow 10s run 8 to 13mm, and excursion is what makes low frequency output.
Separate chambers, as on every dual sealed build we do. Two drivers sharing one volume interact acoustically, each one's compression stroke becoming the pressure environment the other works against, which smears transients and blurs the alignment either would have alone. A full-height bonded divider stops it. Each driver sees its own 0.50 net and its own polyfill.
Same efficiency note as the single: 82.1 dB sensitivity is low, and that is the price of the excursion in this depth. Give each driver the full 400 watts rather than half.
One side-mounted cup feeds both driver positions in parallel. Each driver is dual 4 ohm, so set impedance at the drivers and wire both identically.
Questions
Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?
Because two drivers in a shared sealed volume interact acoustically. Each driver's compression phase becomes the pressure environment the other driver is working against, which smears transient response and blurs the alignment each would have on its own. A full-height bonded 3/4 inch MDF divider eliminates that completely. Each 10TW3-D4 gets its own 0.50 cubic feet net, matching JL Audio's own sealed optimum, plus its own polyfill. Separate chambers are the standing design rule on every Proline X dual sealed enclosure.
How does this compare to the single 10 inch TW3 Down Fire enclosure?
Acoustically identical per driver, roughly 6 dB more maximum output. Both give each 10TW3-D4 exactly 0.50 cubic feet net and land at Qtc 0.960 with F3 at 40.1 Hz. The difference is physical: both share the 30 by 15 inch footprint, but the single stands 4.9375 inches tall and the dual stands 7.6875.
Combined power handling doubles to 800 watts RMS and cone area doubles to 730 square centimeters. The single fits under seats; the dual is a cargo floor or rear-wall build.
What makes the TW3 different from other shallow-mount subwoofers?
Excursion. Each 10TW3-D4 delivers 15.2mm of one-way linear excursion in a 3.25 inch mounting depth. Most shallow 10 inch subwoofers run between 8 and 13mm, and excursion is what actually produces output at low frequencies.
JL Audio achieved it through their patented Thin-Line woofer technology, which reworks motor and suspension geometry so the cone can travel farther in a shorter frame. Across a pair in this cabinet that adds up to serious displacement capability from a box under 8 inches tall.
How is this enclosure wired, and how do I set my final impedance?
The enclosure uses one side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel. You do not wire the two chambers separately at the amplifier.
Final impedance is set at the drivers. Each 10TW3-D4 has dual 4-ohm voice coils, so you choose how to wire the two coils on each driver and that determines the load the amplifier sees through the cup. Wire both drivers identically, since mismatched wiring between chambers will split power unevenly. Confirm the resulting load against your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before powering the system.
How much power should I run to these subwoofers?
JL Audio rates each 10TW3-D4 at 400 watts RMS and recommends 200 to 400 watts per driver, so 800 watts RMS total across the pair. Aim for the upper end of that range.
Sensitivity is 82.1 dB at 1 watt, which is on the low side. That is the tradeoff for getting 15.2mm of excursion into a 3.25 inch frame: these motors prioritize control and travel over efficiency. Underpowering leaves real output unused, so feed them properly if your electrical system supports it.
Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?
Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC.
How is this enclosure built?
V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The chamber divider is a full-height bonded 3/4 inch panel.
Front baffles are double-layer at 1.5 inches at both driver positions, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill in each chamber complete the build. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Are the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 subwoofers included with this enclosure?
No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own pair of JL Audio 10TW3-D4 subwoofers. The cutouts and mounting depth are direct fit at both driver positions.
