Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 14.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Installer's take
865 square centimetres of cone across the pair. Two round 10s would give you roughly 690. That is the Solo-Baric argument doubled, and it is the real reason to build this rather than a dual round 10.
Each chamber is 0.60 net, the same volume the single driver cabinet uses, so both products land on the same alignment. Qtc 0.745 here against 0.746 on the single, identical 51.3 Hz F3. You get roughly 6 dB more output and double the power handling with no change in character, which is exactly how a dual should relate to its single.
The sizing is not a compromise. This driver produces 51.3 Hz at 0.60 net and 51.3 Hz at 0.80 net, because the corner drops as the box grows but the rolloff shape flattens to compensate. Bigger chambers would have made the cabinet taller for nothing.
Separate chambers as always. Two drivers sharing one volume interact acoustically, each compression stroke becoming the pressure environment the other works against, which smears transients. A full height bonded divider stops it.
Both baffle positions are cut square to Kicker's published CNC template. The corners of an L7T cone are where the extra area lives, and a round hole would leave them unsupported.
Credit where due on data: Kicker publishes a full Klippel parameter set for every L7T on a free public page, fitting error included. Almost nobody in this program does that. The one gap is displacement, which they do not publish anywhere, so the 0.07 cubic feet per driver in our net figure is our own estimate and labeled that way.
1000 watts RMS combined. Use two of the same coil version and wire them identically, because mismatched wiring between chambers splits power unevenly and you will not hear it until something fails.
Questions
Are both baffle cutouts actually square?
Yes. Both positions are machined with a 9 5/16 inch square opening cut to Kicker's own published CNC template, including the corner radii the L7T basket expects. They are not round holes that square drivers sit over.
That matters structurally as well as cosmetically. The corners of a square cone are exactly where the extra radiating area lives, and a round cutout would leave those corners overhanging unsupported baffle edge. Cutting to the correct square profile is also what allows the flush recess to seat properly on this driver.
How does this compare to the single 10 inch L7T enclosure?
Acoustically identical per driver, roughly 6 dB more maximum output. Each chamber here provides 0.60 cubic feet net, the same volume the single driver cabinet uses, so the alignments match: Qtc 0.745 against 0.746, with an identical 51.3 Hz F3.
The differences are physical. Both share the 30 by 15 inch footprint, but the single stands 5.375 inches tall and the dual stands 8.6875. Combined power handling doubles to 1000 watts RMS and total cone area doubles to 865 square centimetres. The single fits under most seats; the dual is a cargo floor or rear wall build.
Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?
Because two drivers in a shared sealed volume interact acoustically. Each driver's compression phase becomes the pressure environment the other driver is working against, which smears transient response and blurs the alignment each would have on its own. A full-height bonded 3/4 inch MDF divider eliminates that completely. Each L7T 10 gets its own 0.60 cubic feet net plus its own polyfill. Separate chambers are the standing design rule on every Proline X dual sealed enclosure.
How is this enclosure wired, and how do I set my final impedance?
The enclosure uses one side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel. You do not wire the two chambers separately at the amplifier.
Final impedance is set at the drivers. The L7T 10 comes as a Dual 2-Ohm (46L7T102) or Dual 4-Ohm (46L7T104), so you choose how to wire the two coils on each driver and that determines the load the amplifier sees through the cup. Use two of the same model and wire them identically, since mismatched wiring between chambers will split power unevenly. Confirm the resulting load against your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before powering the system.
How much power should I run to these subwoofers?
Kicker recommends 500 watts RMS of amplifier power per driver, so 1000 watts RMS combined across the pair, with a peak rating of 1000 watts each measured per ANSI/CTA-2031-A. That standard matters: it is a defined measurement method rather than a marketing figure.
On sensitivity, Kicker publishes 85.98 dB while their own Klippel measurement reports 85.645 dB characteristic SPL. Treat mid 85 as the working number. Kicker's own guidance is that the recommended power assumes typical music with minimal amplifier clipping, so clean power within the rating is worth more than a larger amplifier driven into distortion.
Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?
Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC.
How is this enclosure built?
V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The chamber divider is a full-height bonded 3/4 inch panel.
Front baffles are double-layer at 1.5 inches at both driver positions, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. Both openings are cut square to Kicker's published template. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill in each chamber complete the build. Corners are square, which is the Down Fire series standard. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
