This enclosure holds 0.39 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO10 runs a system Qtc of 0.83–0.88 with half power at 41.6–44.6 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1343 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1469 W — +126 W, or 9 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

At 50.0–54.2 the thinPRO10 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 32.0 Hz free-air to 49–51 Hz and half power lands at 41.6–44.6 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1343 W, reached first at 29 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1469 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 9 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

A dual 10 that stands 6.25 inches tall and handles 1500 watts RMS. That is shorter than most single-driver cabinets in this program, and it holds two 750 watt drivers.

The reason is the same thing that makes the single so short. Wavtech specifies no rear clearance requirement on the thinPRO10, because the magnet structure sits essentially flush with the frame rather than protruding into the airspace like a conventional vented-pole motor. Most deep drivers need half an inch of breathing room behind the motor and we build it in. This one does not.

Each chamber lands at 0.39 net, essentially Wavtech's own 0.35 preferred figure. Qtc 0.876 on the -2 and 0.829 on the -4, against their published 0.86 and 0.81. Within a couple of hundredths of the alignment they designed the driver around.

Separate chambers as always. Two drivers sharing one volume interact acoustically, each one's compression stroke becoming the pressure environment the other works against, which smears transients. A full-height bonded divider stops it. Each driver gets its own airspace and its own polyfill.

Across the pair: 683.5 square centimeters of cone with 20mm of one-way excursion each, 1500 watts RMS combined. 4.5 inch coils, dual internal mirrored NBR spiders, FEA-optimized dual-gap motors with double-stacked strontium magnets.

Wiring is simple since both variants are single voice coil. A pair of -2 drivers presents 1 ohm through the shared cup, a pair of -4 presents 2 ohms. Use two of the same model. Sensitivity is 81 to 82 dB, so feed these properly and make sure the electrical side is up to 1500 watts.

Questions

Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?

Because two drivers in a shared sealed volume interact acoustically. Each driver's compression phase becomes the pressure environment the other driver is working against, which smears transient response and blurs the alignment each would have on its own. A full-height bonded 3/4 inch MDF divider eliminates that completely. Each thinPRO10 gets its own 0.50 cubic feet net plus its own polyfill. Separate chambers are the standing design rule on every Proline X dual sealed enclosure.

How is a dual 10 enclosure only 6.25 inches tall?

Two reasons. First, the thinPRO10 mounts in only 2.875 inches. Second, Wāvtech specifies no rear clearance requirement behind the motor, because the magnet structure sits essentially flush with the frame rather than protruding into the airspace the way a conventional vented-pole motor does.

Most drivers in this program need half an inch of breathing room behind the magnet, which gets built into the cabinet height. The thinPRO10 does not. Combined with our flush-recess outer baffle layer and the milled relief in the opposite panel, that lets a two-chamber cabinet for a pair of 750 watt drivers come in at 6.25 inches, shorter than most single-driver enclosures in the Down Fire line.

How does this compare to the single 10 inch thinPRO enclosure?

Nearly identical per driver, roughly 6 dB more maximum output. The single gives its driver 0.40 cubic feet net at Qtc 0.869 on the -2; each chamber here gives 0.39 net at Qtc 0.876. Practically the same alignment.

The difference is physical: both share the 30 by 15 inch footprint, but the single stands 4.25 inches tall and the dual stands 6.25. Combined power handling doubles to 1500 watts RMS, the highest of any dual in the Proline X Down Fire line, and cone area doubles to 683.5 square centimeters. Two inches of additional height for twice the output is a strong trade.

How is this enclosure wired, and what impedance will my amplifier see?

Simpler than most duals in this line. Both thinPRO10 variants are single voice coil, so there is no coil configuration decision at the driver. The enclosure uses one side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel.

Your final load depends on which model you install: a pair of thinPRO10-2 drivers presents 1 ohm at the cup, a pair of thinPRO10-4 presents 2 ohms. Use two of the same model and confirm the resulting load against your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before powering the system.

How much power should I run to these subwoofers?

Wāvtech rates each thinPRO10 at 750 watts RMS with 2250 watts peak and recommends 250 to 750 watts per driver, so up to 1500 watts RMS total across the pair. Aim for the upper half of that range.

Sensitivity is 81 dB on the -2 and 82 dB on the -4, which is low. That is the tradeoff for packing a 4.5 inch coil and 20mm of excursion into a 2.875 inch frame. Underpowering leaves significant output unused, and at 1500 watts combined this build wants a solid electrical foundation.

Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?

Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The chamber divider is a full-height bonded 3/4 inch panel.

Front baffles are double-layer at 1.5 inches at both driver positions, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. With two 750 watt drivers bolted to the same cabinet that rigidity matters. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill in each chamber complete the build. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
