This enclosure holds 0.35 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO10 runs a system Qtc of 0.86–0.91 with half power at 42.2–45.1 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1481 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1577 W — +97 W, or 7 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

At 50.0–54.2 the thinPRO10 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 32.0 Hz free-air to 51–53 Hz and half power lands at 42.2–45.1 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1481 W, reached first at 32 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1577 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 7 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

2250 watts RMS and 1025 square centimeters of cone, all of it moving 20mm each way, in a cabinet 7.25 inches tall. This is the highest-output enclosure in the Down Fire program by a clear margin.

The 33 inch width is the thing to understand about this build. Three 10 inch drivers do not fit across 30 inches once you account for two chamber dividers and enough baffle material between cutouts to keep the panel rigid. The extra three inches is what lets every chamber be correctly sized rather than compromising volume to force the drivers closer together. It is the first Down Fire cabinet off the 30 inch platform.

Each chamber lands at 0.35 net, which is Wavtech's preferred volume exactly. Qtc 0.907 on the -2 and 0.857 on the -4 against their published 0.86 and 0.81. All three chambers sit on the alignment the driver was designed around.

Three separate chambers matter more here than on a dual. With drivers sharing one sealed volume, each one's compression stroke becomes the pressure environment its neighbors work against, and with three in a common box that interaction compounds rather than just doubling. Two full-height bonded dividers eliminate it.

Be realistic about the electrical side. Three thinPRO10-2 drivers in parallel present 0.67 ohms, and three -4 drivers present 1.33. Most amplifiers are not stable at 0.67, so the -4 is the safer choice unless you know your amp handles it. At 2250 watts you also want the charging system and wiring to match. This is not a casual build.

One shared side-mounted cup feeds all three positions in parallel. Use three of the same model, and check the load before you order.

Questions

Why is this enclosure 33 inches wide instead of 30?

Because three 10 inch drivers will not fit across a 30 inch cabinet properly. Every other enclosure in the Proline X Down Fire line uses a 30 inch footprint, but a triple needs room for two full-height chamber dividers plus enough baffle material between the three cutouts to keep the panel rigid under load.

At 33 inches external, the internal width works out to 29 inches split into three chambers of 9.667 inches each. That gives every driver a correctly sized chamber at Wāvtech's preferred 0.35 cubic feet net, rather than shrinking the volume to force the drivers closer together. The three extra inches of width buy a properly engineered enclosure instead of a compromised one.

What impedance will three drivers present to my amplifier?

This is the most important thing to check before ordering. Both thinPRO10 variants are single voice coil, and the enclosure wires all three driver positions in parallel through one shared terminal cup.

Three thinPRO10-2 drivers present a 0.67 ohm load. Three thinPRO10-4 drivers present 1.33 ohms. Very few amplifiers are stable at 0.67 ohms, so unless you know yours is rated for it, the thinPRO10-4 is the safer choice for this cabinet. Verify your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before you buy drivers.

Why three separate chambers instead of one shared volume?

Because drivers sharing a sealed volume interact acoustically, and with three drivers that interaction is worse than with two. Each driver's compression phase becomes the pressure environment its neighbors are working against, which smears transient response and blurs the alignment each would have on its own. In a three-driver common chamber, every driver is fighting two others rather than one.

Two full-height bonded 3/4 inch MDF dividers eliminate it completely. Each thinPRO10 gets its own 0.35 cubic feet net, its own polyfill, and produces its own clean sealed alignment. Separate chambers are the standing design rule on every Proline X multi-driver sealed enclosure.

How much power and what electrical system does this build need?

Wāvtech rates each thinPRO10 at 750 watts RMS and recommends 250 to 750 watts per driver, so this cabinet can take up to 2250 watts RMS total. Sensitivity is 81 to 82 dB, which is low, so these drivers genuinely want the power rather than tolerating it.

At that level the electrical system matters as much as the amplifier. Plan on a high-output alternator, adequate battery capacity, and appropriately sized power and ground cable. Running 2250 watts on a stock charging system will cause voltage sag that shows up as poor performance and eventually as amplifier damage.

How does this compare to the dual 10 inch thinPRO enclosure?

Roughly 3.5 dB more maximum output and 50 percent more cone area, in exchange for three inches of width and one inch of height. The dual stands 6.25 inches on a 30 inch footprint with 1500 watts RMS combined; this triple stands 7.25 inches on a 33 inch footprint with 2250 watts combined.

Per driver the alignments are close, 0.39 net per chamber on the dual against 0.35 here. The bigger practical difference is the electrical load. A pair of thinPRO10-4 drivers presents 2 ohms; three present 1.33. If your amplifier and charging system are sized for it, the triple is a substantial step up. If not, the dual is the more realistic build.

Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?

Side mounted, and there is one cup serving all three chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since all three baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC to every driver position.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which keeps all three chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The two chamber dividers are full-height bonded 3/4 inch panels.

Front baffles are double-layer at 1.5 inches at all three driver positions, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. That rigidity matters with three cutouts in a 33 inch panel and three 750 watt drivers bolted to it. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill in each chamber complete the build. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
