This enclosure holds 0.55 cu ft net per chamber. Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 19.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 676 W, reached first at 23 Hz. It sits above the 600 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 791 W before hitting the same 19.0 mm. Installer's take

The 10W6v3 is one of JL Audio's most impressive engineering achievements. Getting a 10 inch driver to handle 600 watts RMS in a 0.55 cubic foot sealed cabinet while still delivering flagship-caliber sound quality is not easy. The W7AE-derived DMA motor, the rigid cast-alloy basket, the mineral-filled polypropylene cone, the efficient pole vent cooling. All of it works together to make a 10 inch driver perform like a small 12 in a compact enclosure. That's why the 10W6v3 sits where it does in JL's lineup, and it's why customers who buy this driver expect the cabinet to actually match JL's engineering.

JL publishes exactly one recommended sealed volume for the 10W6v3: 0.55 cubic feet net internal. In that alignment the driver delivers Qtc 0.81, Fc 47.55 Hz, F3 42.27 Hz. This cabinet is engineered around those numbers. 0.63 cubic feet gross internal, minus the 10W6v3's driver displacement, equals exactly 0.55 net. Not 0.5. Not 0.6. Exactly 0.55. That precision matters more with this driver than with almost any other 10 in its class, because the W6v3 has a narrow window of ideal enclosure sizing and misses of even a tenth of a cubic foot show up as audible differences in Qtc and low-end character.

The trunk-load wedge geometry works the same way it does across our other PO wedge builds. Rear seat backs lean roughly 20 degrees back from vertical, and the 8.85 inch top to 13.25 inch bottom depth difference on the seat-side face of this cabinet matches that lean within a couple degrees. The wedge sits flush against the seat back with no wasted gap. The vertical trunk-lid-side face is where the 10W6v3 mounts, firing rearward into the trunk cavity. Trunk-load loading, smoother cabin transmission, no cargo space stolen from the front of the trunk.

Why fire the woofer rearward instead of into the cabin? Same reasons as always, the trunk cavity acts as an acoustic loading chamber, bass energy transmits into the passenger cabin through the rear deck and seat back rather than firing directly at the listener, and the presentation ends up smoother and less localized. For a driver with the W6v3's SQ credentials, that smoother acoustic loading is exactly the sonic character you paid for the driver to deliver.

Power target: JL specs 200 to 600 watts RMS. Real-world sweet spot for daily driving is 300 to 500 watts. The 10W6v3 handles its rated 600 in bursts, but sustained 600 watts starts pushing thermal limits, and honestly, in a 0.55 cubic foot sealed enclosure you're not going to be starved for output at 400 watts. Match with any high-quality regulated monoblock in that range, or a JL Audio HD or XD series if you want a matched-brand build.

Same JL warning applies as the 12: do not use a passive crossover coil in series with this driver. It will screw up the low-frequency response and defeat the whole point of buying an SQ subwoofer. Use your amp's built-in low-pass filter, set somewhere between 80 and 100 Hz for musical accuracy.

Wiring: the 10W6v3 is Dual 4-ohm only. No D2 variant. Parallel gives you 2 ohms, series gives you 8 ohms. Parallel is usually the pick for modern class D monoblocks that are stable at 2 ohms and deliver more power at that load.
