Installer's take

The P3D2-10 is the smallest driver in Rockford's Punch P3 lineup and the entry point to the P3 aluminum-cone platform. Same core engineering as the 12" and 15" P3 siblings: anodized aluminum cone, VAST surround, FlexFit basket, hybrid stamp-cast basket, standard 10-AWG nickel-plated push terminals, Klippel-verified motor, unique spider venting for cooler operation. Rated 500 watts RMS continuous, a step down from the 12" and 15" P3 which are both rated 600W. Makes sense given the smaller motor structure and cone area.

Volume math on this box lands on RF's spec exactly. 0.717 cu ft gross minus the P3D2-10's 0.127 cu ft mounted displacement = 0.590 cu ft net. RF's published sealed spec is 0.59 cu ft net. Direct hit.

Same design story as the 12" P3 build: RF's 10" P3 spec already targets Qtc around 0.82 (with the P3D2-10's Qts 0.49 and Vas 27L, working through the compliance math). That's musical alignment territory. No tuning adjustment needed. Both the 10" and 12" P3 builds hit RF's specs exactly because RF picked musical-Q targets for those spec sheets. Only the 15" P3 build runs slightly larger than RF's spec, because RF's 15" spec targets a tighter Qtc closer to 1.0 for peak SPL in a compact cabinet.

I appreciate that Rockford didn't force a compact-cabinet compromise on the 10" P3 the way they did on the 15". The 10" is already a small driver in a small cabinet. Pushing to Qtc 0.793 for peak output wouldn't have saved meaningful trunk space, so they picked the musical target. Good engineering decision.

Cabinet size: this is the smallest wedge in the entire PO Wedge lineup. 17.25" wide, 13" tall, 8" deep at top, 12.73" deep at bottom. Genuinely fits anywhere. Compact sedans that can't accommodate the 10" T1 wedge (20.75" wide) can fit this. Small hatchbacks, coupes with tight parcel shelves, pickup single-cab spaces where a full-size wedge won't clear. This box works.

The P3's shallow 6.18" mounting depth is what makes the compact cabinet possible. Most 10" drivers rated 500-600W RMS need 6.5-7.5" of mount depth. The P3 fits in an 8" top-face wedge with 1.62" clearance. That's the practical outcome of RF specifying a shallow motor structure for the P3 platform.

Loaded weight is trivial. The P3D2-10 is 17.3 lb shipping weight. Lightest full-power driver in the P3 line. Cabinet is roughly 25 lb in Langboard MDF at this size. Total loaded system ~42 lb. Genuinely one-person installable. Standard parcel shipping straightforward.

Power target: RF specs 500 watts RMS. Real-world sweet spot is 300-500 watts. RF's own Punch P400X1 monoblock (400W at 2 ohm) is a natural match for the daily-driver use case. Prime R500X1D delivers a full 500W at 1 ohm parallel wiring if you want maximum output. Any modern high-quality class D monoblock stable at 1 ohm in the 300-500W range works. Set low-pass around 80-100 Hz. Subsonic around 25-30 Hz.

Wiring is standard P3 push terminals (no SWIFT). Parallel for 1 ohm max output, series for 4 ohm. Wire it once and it stays.

Sealed vs ported: RF supports both. Ported gets you 1.4 cu ft at tuned ~40 Hz, adds output efficiency but requires 138% more cabinet volume, not usually worth it for a 10" driver where the compact sealed cabinet is much of the appeal. For SPL builds, ported wins. For musical accuracy and compact fitment, sealed wins. This is the sealed answer.

Cabinet size vs the 10 T1 wedge: this one is 3.5" narrower (17.25" vs 20.75") and 0.5" shorter (13" vs 13.5"). The 10 T1 needs a bigger cabinet because RF specs 0.75 cu ft for it vs 0.59 for the 10 P3. Different drivers, different volume requirements.
