Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
1.80 cu ft against a 113.1 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.65 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Installer's take
The Comp VX 15 sits one step below the flagship CompQ 15 in Kicker's round subwoofer lineup, but the gap between them is narrower than most people assume. It uses the same SoloKon cone technology, the same L7-derived motor architecture, and the same suspension philosophy. Where the CompQ pushes further on Xmax and thermal headroom, the Comp VX gives you the same tonal character with 1000 watts of continuous power handling in a 15-inch package.
I built this one to 1.80 cubic feet net, matching Kicker's own recommended minimum sealed enclosure. That puts the driver at a Qtc of 0.65 based on bench-measured T/S parameters, which is an extended musical alignment that lets the Comp VX 15 breathe and pull the deep low-end reach a 15-inch driver is bought for. In this wedge that loads the trunk this cleanly, it delivers exactly the tight-but-extended character these drivers are designed around.
One note on this driver specifically: bench-measured Vas comes in at 4.18 cubic feet, which is unusually large. That means the Comp VX 15 fundamentally rewards being given air to work with. Kicker's maximum sealed spec goes all the way to 5.2 cubic feet for that reason. If you want more low-end extension than this wedge geometry allows, a larger cube-format enclosure will get you there, but the wedge at 1.80 net is a genuinely satisfying alignment for the trunk install use case.
The double-baffle 1.5" front is not optional on this driver. The Comp VX 15 puts serious mechanical load into the mounting flange at high output, and a single 3/4" layer will telegraph flex back into the cone. Two bonded 3/4" layers with the CNC-precision cutout stops that entirely and gives the driver the rigid mounting platform it deserves.
If you're bringing your own amp, target 700-1000 watts RMS at the woofer's impedance for a clean, headroom-rich musical system. The Comp VX 15 is rated to 1000 watts RMS continuous and does not need more than that to sound its best.
Questions
Will this enclosure fit both the 50CVX152 and 50CVX154?
Yes. The cutout, mounting depth, and terminal cup wiring are direct-fit for either impedance option. Choose based on your amplifier's ideal load.
Why did you pick 1.80 cubic feet instead of a different volume?
1.80 cubic feet net matches Kicker's own recommended minimum sealed enclosure for the Comp VX 15 and puts the driver at a Qtc of 0.65 based on bench-measured T/S parameters. This driver has an unusually large Vas of 4.18 cubic feet, and it fundamentally wants air to work with. Kicker's maximum sealed spec goes to 5.2 cubic feet for deeper extension in cube-format installs. 1.80 is the sweet spot that gives the driver room to breathe while keeping the wedge footprint practical for trunk installations.
What amplifier power should I run to this enclosure?
The Kicker Comp VX 15 is rated at 1000 watts RMS continuous. For a clean, headroom-rich musical system in this sealed alignment, target 700 to 1000 watts RMS at the woofer's impedance. It will happily accept the full 1000 watts but does not require it to sound its best.
How does a wedge enclosure improve the sound in a trunk installation?
The driver mounts on the vertical face at the back of the box and fires rearward into the trunk cavity, using the trunk itself as an extension of the acoustic system. The angled face is on the opposite side, matching the roughly 20 degree lean of a factory rear seat back so the cabinet tucks in with no wasted gap. Firing into the trunk cavity takes advantage of the trunk's natural transfer function, loads the cabin efficiently, and reduces the standing-wave interaction that a flat-front box parallel to the rear seat can produce.
Why is the front baffle double-layered on this enclosure?
All Performance Optimized Series enclosures use a double-layer 1.5 inch front baffle made from two bonded sheets of 3/4 inch Langboard Elite MDF. The Kicker Comp VX 15 exerts significant mechanical load into its mounting flange at high output. A single 3/4 inch baffle can flex under that load and telegraph energy back into the cone. The double baffle eliminates that entirely and gives the driver a rigid, isolated mounting platform.
What is the expected low-frequency extension of this enclosure?
At the Qtc 0.65 alignment, the predicted -3 dB point is approximately 52 Hz, with usable output well below that as cabin gain takes over in most vehicles. Effective in-car response typically extends down into the mid 20 Hz range depending on the specific vehicle acoustics.
Do I need to add any additional damping or polyfill to this enclosure?
No additional damping is required. The enclosure ships with polyfill pre-installed to the correct density for the volume and alignment. Adding more polyfill will effectively increase the perceived volume and shift the alignment. Removing it will do the opposite.
Is the Kicker Comp VX 15 subwoofer included with this enclosure?
No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own 50CVX152 (DVC 2Ω) or 50CVX154 (DVC 4Ω) driver.
