Installer's take
The T1D215 is the biggest driver in Rockford's Power T1 lineup and the flagship of the series. 15 inches of Kevlar-reinforced paper cone, a 229-ounce magnet (nearly 2x the mass of the 12"'s magnet), a 3" voice coil on an anodized aluminum former, and 16.4mm of one-way Xmax. 1000 watts RMS CEA-2031 rated. This is a serious driver, the kind of driver you buy when you want an SPL-capable 15" that also has the engineering pedigree to sound clean when you push it.
Same tech stack as the smaller T1 siblings: VAST surround for 25% more effective cone area, FlexFit basket, SWIFT terminals for series/parallel reconfiguration, Klippel-verified motor characterization, Santoprene surround, inductive damping heat sink. The 15" scales up the platform without changing the fundamental engineering approach.
Volume math on this box lands directly on spec. 2.79 cu ft gross minus the T1D215's 0.547 cu ft total driver displacement = 2.243 cu ft net. RF's published sealed spec is 2.25 cu ft net. Right on the money. Same principle as the 10" and 12" T1 builds, we're using the actual mounted displacement (0.547), not the RF-published cone-body figure (0.191). Boxes built to the RF-published 0.191 number end up ~16% oversize. This one is dialed to the real number.
Wedge geometry is standard PO trunk-load, sized appropriately for a 15". 28" wide, 18" tall, 11.2" deep at top, 17.75" deep at bottom. This is the largest cabinet we build in the PO Wedge line. It's not going in a Miata. You need a real trunk or cargo area to fit this. Full-size sedans (Charger, Impala, older 300), full-size wagons, SUVs with proper cargo bays, or pickup extended-cab/crew-cab installs with actual behind-seat space. Compact sedans, coupes, and small hatchbacks won't work. 18" height alone rules out most parcel-shelf trunks.
Loaded weight is heavy. The T1D215 alone is 53.75 pounds shipping weight. The cabinet itself is roughly 55-60 pounds in Langboard MDF at this size. Full loaded system: 105-115 pounds. This is a two-person install, minimum. Do not attempt to muscle this into a trunk solo unless you enjoy back injuries. Plan the install route in advance, the loaded cabinet doesn't fit through most rear passenger door openings, so it's usually a trunk-lid entry.
Power target: RF specs 1000 watts RMS. Real-world sweet spot is 800-1000W from a proper class D monoblock. RF's own T1000-1bdCP monoblock (1000W @ 1 ohm via Constant Power) is the obvious matched amplifier, but any high-quality 1-ohm stable monoblock in that power range works. If you're building for SPL competition, run parallel wiring via SWIFT terminals at 1 ohm and feed it the full rated 1000W. If you're building for musical daily-driver use in a big vehicle, 700-800W at 1-2 ohms delivers substantial output without pushing thermal limits.
Subsonic filter matters more on this driver than on the smaller T1s because the T1D215's 26.3 Hz Fs is close to typical program material bass content. Set subsonic around 20-25 Hz to protect the suspension from below-Fs excursion. Low-pass around 80-100 Hz standard.
Sealed vs ported: RF supports both. The vented spec is 2.66 cu ft. Only 0.4 cu ft larger than sealed, which is unusual (typically vented boxes are 40-50% larger than sealed). This narrow gap suggests RF designed the T1D215 for a compact-vented alignment that trades some extension for output efficiency. If you want ported, that spec is not much larger than this sealed box in physical size. Contact us for a ported build.
For SQ-oriented builds where you want the T1D215's flagship cone area and power capability with tight, controlled response, this sealed box is the answer.
One note on the FlexFit basket at this size: the T1D215's mounting flange spreads the driver's substantial weight across the slot pattern, but the flange is thin plastic-composite by RF spec. Use the included stainless machine screws through the threaded inserts. Don't overtighten. 3/4" MDF baffle with proper threaded inserts holds this driver just fine without cranking down on the flange to the point of stress-cracking.
This is an enclosure-only listing. Bring your own T1D215 (or T1D415, 4-ohm variant fits identically, RF publishes the same 2.25 cu ft sealed spec across both). Source from any authorized Rockford Fosgate dealer.
If you want Rockford's flagship 15" in RF's exact sealed spec, in trunk-fit wedge form, this is the box.
Questions
What size enclosure does the Rockford Fosgate T1D215 need?
Rockford Fosgate publishes 2.25 cubic feet net internal as the recommended sealed enclosure volume for the T1D215 (and vented at 2.66 cubic feet if you prefer ported). The Audio Intensity Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 for Rockford Fosgate T1 delivers 2.79 cubic feet gross internal, which after subtracting the T1D215's 0.547 cubic foot total driver displacement lands at 2.243 cubic feet net. Essentially exact match to RF's published sealed spec.
What vehicles will fit the Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 for the Rockford Fosgate T1?
The 15" cabinet measures 28" wide x 18" tall externally, with a wedge depth of 11.2" at the top and 17.75" at the bottom. This is a substantial cabinet requiring a full-size sedan trunk (Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala, older Chrysler 300), a wagon or SUV cargo area, or a pickup extended-cab or crew-cab install with adequate space behind the rear seat. The 18" height rules out most parcel-shelf-style trunks in compact sedans, coupes, and small hatchbacks. Measure your trunk carefully before ordering.
How does the T1D215 compare to the smaller T1 subwoofers?
All three T1 sizes share the same engineering platform: VAST surround technology, FlexFit basket, SWIFT terminals, Klippel-verified motor, and Kevlar-reinforced paper cone. Key differences by size: the T1D210 (10") is rated 600W RMS with a 100-oz magnet, the T1D212 (12") is rated 800W RMS with a 123-oz magnet, and the T1D215 (15") is the flagship at 1000W RMS with a 229-oz magnet (nearly 2x the 12"'s magnet mass). Cabinet requirements scale proportionally: 0.75 cu ft for the 10", 1.25 cu ft for the 12", 2.25 cu ft for the 15". Choose the T1D215 when maximum output and displacement matters and you have the vehicle space to support it.
How much power can the Rockford Fosgate T1D215 handle?
The Rockford Fosgate T1D215 handles 1000 watts RMS continuous (CEA-2031 compliant) with 2000 watts peak. For balanced output and long-term reliability in the Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 enclosure, pair the T1D215 with a clean, well-regulated class D monoblock delivering 800-1000 watts RMS at your chosen impedance. Rockford Fosgate's own Power T1000-1bdCP amplifier is the natural match, delivering full 1000W at 1-ohm parallel via the T1D215's SWIFT terminals, with Constant Power design that maintains rated output across impedance loads.
What impedance options are available for the Rockford Fosgate T1 15"
Rockford Fosgate offers the T1 15" in two dual-voice-coil impedance configurations: T1D215 (Dual 2-ohm) and T1D415 (Dual 4-ohm). Both fit this cabinet identically since RF publishes the same 2.25 cu ft sealed spec across both variants. The T1D215 (2-ohm) uses SWIFT terminals to configure as 1-ohm parallel (maximum output) or 4-ohm series. The T1D415 (4-ohm) configures as 2-ohm parallel or 8-ohm series. The T1D215 with 1-ohm parallel wiring is the highest-output single-driver configuration and the natural pairing for RF's own T1000-1bdCP monoblock amplifier.
What is the mounting depth of the Rockford Fosgate T1D215?
The Rockford Fosgate T1D215 has a mounting depth of 8.39 inches (213mm) with a cutout diameter of 13.9375 inches (354mm). The T1D215 uses Rockford's FlexFit basket, a slot-mounted frame pattern that allows fine-tuning of the driver's rotational mounting position. The Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 cabinet provides ample internal clearance: over 13.7 inches at the driver's mounting center and 10.45 inches at the top baffle edge (both after 3/4" MDF panel thickness), giving the driver's substantial 229-ounce magnet structure and inductive damping heat sink plenty of room to breathe.
Should I use the T1D215 in a sealed or ported enclosure?
Rockford Fosgate supports both alignments for the T1D215. Sealed (2.25 cu ft net per RF spec) delivers tight, controlled bass with excellent transient response, ideal for musical accuracy, sound quality installs, and daily-driven vehicles where cabin gain rewards a warmer alignment. Ported (2.66 cu ft net per RF spec) delivers additional output efficiency in the peak-tuned range and is preferred for maximum-SPL builds. Notably, the T1D215's vented spec is only 0.4 cu ft larger than sealed, a narrow gap that reflects RF's compact-vented alignment approach. This cabinet is engineered for the sealed alignment. If you need a ported T1D215 build, contact us for options.
How much does the Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 for Rockford Fosgate T1 weigh?
The empty Performance Optimized Wedge Sealed 15 enclosure weighs approximately 55-60 pounds in Langboard Elite 3/4" MDF construction. The T1D215 subwoofer itself is 53.75 pounds shipping weight (Rockford Fosgate spec). Fully loaded system weight is 105-115 pounds. This is a two-person install, minimum. The cabinet's size (28" wide x 18" tall x 17.75" deep at the base) may also require freight shipping rather than standard parcel; we'll advise on shipping method after order confirmation.
