Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
0.50 cu ft against a 19.8 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 15.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.
| Param | Value | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fs | 32.30 | Hz | free-air resonance |
| Qts | 0.620 | D4 | |
| Vas | 19.80 | L | equivalent compliance |
| Sd | 365.0 | cm² | effective piston area |
| Xmax | 15.2 | mm | one-way linear travel |
| Pe | 400 | W | continuous RMS |
| SPL | 81.9 | dB | 1 W / 1 m, derived from T/S |

Installer's take
0. at Qtc 0.960 and F3 40.1 Hz anechoic, per chamber, computed from published Thiele-Small.
On impedance: Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it.
Measure the base depth. This cabinet is 10.35 inches deep at the trunk floor, 4.89 at the top, and 32.00 wide.
Questions
Will this enclosure fit two 10TW3?
Yes. Both positions are CNC cut to 9.6060 in for the 10TW3's cutout and the cabinet clears its 3.268 in mounting depth. Threaded inserts are pressed in at every mounting location.
Why 0.500 cubic feet net per driver?
0.500 cubic feet net per driver, the same airspace the single version of this cabinet holds. The alignment is identical: Qtc 0.960 either way. Each chamber is 0.53 cu ft gross before the driver's displacement.
What amplifier power should I run, and what impedance?
The JL Audio 10TW3 is rated 400 watts RMS each, so 800 across the pair. Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it. Aim for roughly 560 to 800 watts at the final wired impedance.
How does a wedge enclosure improve the sound in a trunk installation?
The angled seat-side face matches the roughly 20 degree lean of a factory rear seat, so the cabinet sits flat against it instead of leaving a wasted triangle. The vertical trunk-lid-side face carries both drivers, firing rearward into the trunk cavity.
Why two separate chambers instead of one shared one?
A shared chamber lets each cone modulate the other's air load, which makes the pair less predictable under hard excursion. A full divider gives each driver its own sealed volume, so both behave exactly as the single version does.
What is the expected low-frequency extension?
Half power lands at 40.1 Hz anechoic, before any cabin gain. Qtc is 0.960. These figures exclude cabin gain, which in most vehicles adds real output below 40 Hz.
Do I need to add polyfill or damping?
No. Polyfill is already installed as a light wall lining and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume. Do not add more.
Are the drivers included?
No. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet, with threaded inserts at both driver positions, stainless machine screws, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup and the polyfill lining already installed.
