This enclosure holds 0.59 cu ft net per chamber. In it the JL Audio 10W6v3 runs a system Qtc of 0.79 with half power at 42.2 Hz, and the cone reaches its 19.0 mm travel limit at 632 W, above the driver’s 600 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 765 W — +133 W, or 21 percent more power for the same 19.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 55.7
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 D4 55.7
D4 · EBP 55.7
At 55.7 the 10W6v3 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

02What the box does to it

0.59 cu ft against a 23.3 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 1.40  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 47 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.79
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
D4 · Qtc 0.79, Fc 47 Hz, F3 42.2 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 30.1 Hz free-air to 47 Hz and half power lands at 42.2 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This dual holds 0.588 cu ft per chamber rather than the 0.550 the single version delivers. Two 10W6v3 baskets plus the divider set the cabinet width, and at that width the chambers come out slightly larger. The difference is 0.02 on Qtc.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 19.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 632 W unfiltered  →  765 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 4 8 12 16 20 24 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 19.0 mm 632 W reaches Xmax here
D4 · 632 W, no filterD4 · 765 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 19.0 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 19.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 632 W, reached first at 21 Hz. It sits above the 600 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 765 W before hitting the same 19.0 mm. That is 21 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

0. at Qtc 0.790 and F3 42.2 Hz anechoic, per chamber, computed from published Thiele-Small.

On impedance: Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it.

Measure the base depth. This cabinet is 13.79 inches deep at the trunk floor, 8.33 at the top, and 24.27 wide.

Questions

Will this enclosure fit two 10W6v3?

Yes. Both positions are CNC cut to 9.0160 in for the 10W6v3's cutout and the cabinet clears its 6.890 in mounting depth. Threaded inserts are pressed in at every mounting location.

Why 0.588 cubic feet net per driver?

0.588 cubic feet net per driver. The single version holds 0.550; two 10W6v3 baskets plus the divider set this cabinet's width, and at that width the chambers come out slightly larger. Qtc moves from 0.806 on the single to 0.790 here, which is not a difference you will hear. Each chamber is 0.69 cu ft gross before the driver's displacement.

What amplifier power should I run, and what impedance?

The JL Audio 10W6v3 is rated 600 watts RMS each, so 1200 across the pair. Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it. Aim for roughly 840 to 1200 watts at the final wired impedance.

How does a wedge enclosure improve the sound in a trunk installation?

The angled seat-side face matches the roughly 20 degree lean of a factory rear seat, so the cabinet sits flat against it instead of leaving a wasted triangle. The vertical trunk-lid-side face carries both drivers, firing rearward into the trunk cavity.

Why two separate chambers instead of one shared one?

A shared chamber lets each cone modulate the other's air load, which makes the pair less predictable under hard excursion. A full divider gives each driver its own sealed volume, so both behave exactly as the single version does.

What is the expected low-frequency extension?

Half power lands at 42.2 Hz anechoic, before any cabin gain. Qtc is 0.790. These figures exclude cabin gain, which in most vehicles adds real output below 40 Hz.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping?

No. Polyfill is already installed as a light wall lining and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume. Do not add more.

Are the drivers included?

No. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet, with threaded inserts at both driver positions, stainless machine screws, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup and the polyfill lining already installed.
