This enclosure holds 0.80 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Kicker Comp VX 10 runs a system Qtc of 0.63 with half power at 65.4 Hz, and the cone reaches its 16.25 mm travel limit at 675 W, below the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so travel is what stops you here, not heat. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 893 W — +217 W, or 32 percent more power for the same 16.25 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 86.1
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 D4 86.1
D4 · EBP 86.1
At 86.1 the 50CVX104 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

02What the box does to it

0.80 cu ft against a 15.9 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 0.70  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 57 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.63
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
D4 · Qtc 0.63, Fc 57 Hz, F3 65.4 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 43.9 Hz free-air to 57 Hz and half power lands at 65.4 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 16.25 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 675 W unfiltered  →  893 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 4 8 12 16 20 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 16.25 mm 675 W reaches Xmax here
D4 · 675 W, no filterD4 · 893 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 16.25 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 16.25 mm. Unfiltered that is 675 W, reached first at 20 Hz. It sits under the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the enclosure sets the ceiling, not the voice coil. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 893 W before hitting the same 16.25 mm. That is 32 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

0. at Qtc 0.627 and F3 65.4 Hz anechoic, per chamber, computed from published Thiele-Small.

Do not shop this one on F3 alone. Half power lands at 65.4 Hz anechoic. That is high, and it is the driver rather than the cabinet: this is a low-Q motor in the airspace its maker specifies, and a sealed box of any size will not take it much lower. It is a tight, controlled box rather than a deep one, and the driver is what decides that.

On impedance: Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it.

Measure the base depth. This cabinet is 13.57 inches deep at the trunk floor, 8.11 at the top, and 32.00 wide.

Questions

Will this enclosure fit two 50CVX104?

Yes. Both positions are CNC cut to 9.1250 in for the 50CVX104's cutout and the cabinet clears its 5.500 in mounting depth. Threaded inserts are pressed in at every mounting location.

Why 0.800 cubic feet net per driver?

0.800 cubic feet net per driver, the same airspace the single version of this cabinet holds. The alignment is identical: Qtc 0.627 either way. Each chamber is 0.90 cu ft gross before the driver's displacement.

What amplifier power should I run, and what impedance?

The Kicker Comp VX 10 is rated 750 watts RMS each, so 1500 across the pair. Each driver is a dual 4 ohm. Wired in series a driver is 8 ohms, and the pair in parallel gives 4 ohms. Wiring each driver's coils in parallel and the pair in parallel gives 1 ohm, which needs an amplifier rated for it. Aim for roughly 1050 to 1500 watts at the final wired impedance.

How does a wedge enclosure improve the sound in a trunk installation?

The angled seat-side face matches the roughly 20 degree lean of a factory rear seat, so the cabinet sits flat against it instead of leaving a wasted triangle. The vertical trunk-lid-side face carries both drivers, firing rearward into the trunk cavity.

Why two separate chambers instead of one shared one?

A shared chamber lets each cone modulate the other's air load, which makes the pair less predictable under hard excursion. A full divider gives each driver its own sealed volume, so both behave exactly as the single version does.

What is the expected low-frequency extension?

Half power lands at 65.4 Hz anechoic. That is high, and it is the driver rather than the cabinet: this is a low-Q motor in the airspace its maker specifies, and a sealed box of any size will not take it much lower. Qtc is 0.627. These figures exclude cabin gain, which in most vehicles adds real output below 40 Hz.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping?

No. Polyfill is already installed as a light wall lining and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume. Do not add more.

Are the drivers included?

No. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet, with threaded inserts at both driver positions, stainless machine screws, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup and the polyfill lining already installed.
