Installer's take
The P6-P V3 is our go-to for "stealth" builds where the client wants real bass without losing their trunk. Most 6.5" boxes on the market use 1/2" or 5/8" wood to save weight, but Proline X sticks to 3/4" MDF here, which is critical. When you throw 300-500W at a high-end 6.5" sub, the internal pressure is immense; this box doesn't flex or rattle. The 38Hz tuning is the "sweet spot". It’s low enough to catch the deep notes but high enough that the sub stays protected and responsive. If you're running a DD Audio, Ground Zero, or Sundown 6.5, this is the exact airspace they’re looking for.
Questions
What subwoofers are compatible with the P6-P?
The P6-P is designed for universal 6.5" subwoofer compatibility. The cutout diameter is 5.95" and the mounting depth is 7.75". Verify your subwoofer's mounting depth and cutout requirements against these dimensions before purchasing. Most standard 6.5" subwoofers will fit: shallow-mount drivers with less than 3" mounting depth will have clearance to spare. High-excursion competition drivers should be verified against the 7.75" mounting depth spec.
Is the P6-P Version II or Version III?
The P6-P is current production Version III. V3 includes V-groove and dado joinery, increased internal bracing, and the in-house ABS/Carbon Fiber Composite terminal cup pre-wired with 12g OFC. There is no V2 version of this model, the P6-P entered the lineup at V3.
Why is ported better for a 6.5" subwoofer in a compact install?
A sealed 6.5" enclosure at the correct volume is typically around 0.2 ft³, which produces accurate bass but limited output. The P6-P's ported design at 0.30 ft³ with a 36Hz port tuning recovers efficiency at the low end, producing noticeably more output from the same amplifier power. For daily installs where space is limited but output matters, ported is the correct choice at this driver size.
What is the warranty on the P6-P?
The P6-P carries a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The warranty covers structural integrity, seams, joints, and mounting points. It does not cover damage from improper installation, misuse, water exposure, or modifications. Contact Audio Intensity directly to initiate a warranty claim with proof of purchase.
What amplifier power is recommended for the P6-P?
The P6-P is designed for 6.5" subwoofers typically rated between 150–400 watts RMS. Match your amplifier to approximately 75–100% of your subwoofer's RMS rating for clean daily use. Undersized amplifier power is a more common cause of driver damage than overpowering, a clipping amplifier at low power does more harm than a clean signal at rated power. If you are unsure of your subwoofer's RMS rating, contact us before purchasing and we will help you size the system correctly.
Does the P6-P come pre-assembled?
Yes. The P6-P ships fully assembled and finished. The enclosure arrives carpeted, braced, and ready to install. The V3 terminal cup is already mounted and recessed into the rear panel with 12g OFC speaker wire pre-wired on the inside. Connect your amplifier output to the terminal and the enclosure is ready to use. No assembly, no wiring prep, no additional hardware required.
Will the P6-P fit behind the seat of my truck?
At 16" W x 8" H x 10.75" D the P6-P is sized for compact installs including behind-seat applications in full-size and mid-size trucks. Measure your available behind-seat depth before ordering. 10.75" is the critical dimension for most behind-seat applications. Standard cab trucks with fold-up rear seats typically have 10–12" of usable depth depending on the make and model. Extended and crew cab trucks generally have more clearance. If you are unsure about fitment in your specific vehicle, contact us with your year, make, and model and we will confirm before you order.
