This enclosure holds 0.76 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Kicker SoloX L7X 10 (49L7X101) runs a system Qtc of 0.54–0.56 with half power at 62.9–68.3 Hz, and the cone reaches its 31.25 mm travel limit at 3585 W, above the driver’s 2000 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 5814 W — +2229 W, or 62 percent more power for the same 31.25 mm of travel.

At 79.2–86.0 the SoloX L7X 10 (49L7X101) sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 39.6–43.1 Hz free-air to 47–49 Hz and half power lands at 62.9–68.3 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 31.25 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 31.25 mm. Unfiltered that is 3585 W, reached first at 20 Hz. It sits above the 2000 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 5814 W before hitting the same 31.25 mm. That is 62 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

The Solo X 10 carries the same triple-stack motor philosophy as the big drivers, and that huge motor against a 10-inch cone gives you a low Qts to work with. In the 0.76 cubic feet this footprint allows, both coil versions land in the mid-0.5s for Qtc: a deliberately overdamped, maximally damped alignment where the suspension and air spring dominate the motion completely.

What that buys you is control that borderline shows off. There is no stored energy at resonance, no bloom, no one-note hangover; kick drums start and stop like a gated sample. Of every box in this wedge line, this 10 is the transient-response champion, and it is the one I would put in a sound-quality build without thinking twice.

Read the F3 correctly before you judge it. Mid-60s anechoic looks conservative, but a low-Q rolloff is extremely shallow, and truck-cab gain rises at almost exactly the rate this alignment falls. In the vehicle the response flattens dramatically and useful output extends well below what the chart implies. This is the classic small-sealed-plus-cabin-gain play, executed on purpose.

Power and coils: Kicker says 1000-2000 watts RMS and the heavy damping makes real power usable, since the box is always working against the cone. Pick coils for your amp's happy load, dual 1-ohm for 0.5 or 2 ohm finals, dual 2-ohm for 1 or 4. Footprint is 14.75 wide, 13.5 tall, 16.25 deep at the floor; measure the seat track before ordering.

Questions

Will my Kicker Solo X 10 fit this enclosure?

Yes. The baffle is CNC-cut to Kicker's published 9-5/16 inch cutout for the Solo X L7X 10, and the cabinet clears the required 9-7/16 inch mounting depth with margin at every point of the stroke, including breathing room for the vented motor. Both the dual 1-ohm 49L7X101 and dual 2-ohm 49L7X102 fit identically.

What does maximally damped mean and why did you tune it that way?

Maximally damped means the system Q sits well below the 0.707 Butterworth point, here 0.54 to 0.56 depending on coil version. In that zone the box and suspension control the cone so completely that there is no peaking and essentially no stored energy at resonance, which is why the bass starts and stops instantly. The Solo X 10's oversized motor and low Qts put it in this zone at any realistic behind-seat volume, so rather than fight it, we maximized the airspace the footprint allows and leaned into the tightest alignment in our whole wedge line.

Which coil version should I buy, dual 1-ohm or dual 2-ohm?

Choose by amplifier, not by the box. The dual 1-ohm runs Qtc 0.54 and the dual 2-ohm 0.56 in this airspace; the dual 2-ohm also reaches slightly deeper (F3 62.9 vs 68.3 Hz) thanks to its lower Fs, but in a vehicle both read as the same tight, controlled character. Buy the coil configuration that wires to the impedance your amplifier makes its rated power into: dual 1-ohm for 0.5 or 2 ohm finals, dual 2-ohm for 1 or 4 ohms.

How much power should I run to the Solo X 10 in this box?

Kicker recommends 1000-2000 watts RMS for the Solo X 10 and this alignment is built for it. A maximally damped sealed box loads the cone hard through the whole passband, so excursion stays controlled even at the top of the range. Clean power with properly set gains matters more than the badge number; an honest 1000-1500 watts covers nearly any daily build.

The F3 looks high on paper. Will this box sound thin?

No, and the chart explains why. A low-Q alignment rolls off early but extremely gently, only 12 dB per octave with a soft knee, while a truck cab's transfer function boosts response at a rising rate below roughly 60-70 Hz. The two slopes largely cancel, so in the vehicle this box plays far flatter and deeper than the anechoic F3 suggests. What you give up is artificial bump; what you keep is accuracy. If you want bloom, this is the wrong box on purpose.

Will this wedge fit behind the seat of my truck?

You need 14.75 inches of width, 13.5 inches of height, and 16.25 inches of depth at the floor; the top of the box needs only 11.375 inches because the baffle rakes back 20 degrees to follow the seat lean. The rear panel is fully vertical and sits flat against the cab wall. This is a compact single-driver footprint that fits behind the seat in most extended and crew cab trucks.

No, this listing is the enclosure only.
