Installer's take
Wire the terminal cup before you set this box in the trunk. Once the tall face is against the seat back there is no getting behind it, and on a wedge you cannot tip it forward to reach the cup. Land it, test continuity, then position.
Confirm both drivers are moving in the same direction before the box goes in. It is a thirty second check with a battery and it is the difference between finding a reversed pair now and pulling the box back out later wondering where the bottom end went.
Measure the base depth, not the top. The cabinet is 12.25 inches deep at the trunk floor and 7.35 at the top, and it is 30.25 wide. It is also the shortest of the wedges at 13.5 inches tall, which is what makes it the one to reach for when the parcel shelf is low. The floor dimension is still what decides the sale.
Each chamber is 0.63 gross, and the GUS-10 displaces 0.031, which puts every driver at 0.599 net against the 0.60 ResoNix publishes. If somebody tells you a pair of tens wants more air than this, run the alignment before you believe it. F3 is 35.9 at 0.35, 34.2 here, and 34.8 at 0.90. The biggest recommended box is the second worst of the three for extension.
Mounting depth is not the constraint on this cabinet. You have 6.5 inches and the GUS-10 needs 4.00, so there is real room behind the flange. Do not let that tempt you into stuffing the extra space with fill.
Do not add polyfill. The light wall lining is there to control internal reflections and nothing more. Stuffing to a working density raises effective volume and moves the alignment off target.
Check the 23mm clearance at both driver positions independently, not once. Because these fire rearward into the trunk, that envelope is your cargo area. The two positions can face completely different obstructions depending on how the box sits and what you load beside it.
Questions
Can this enclosure be run down firing?
No. This is a trunk mounted wedge and it works in one orientation only. The tall face sits flat against the back of the rear seat, the cabinet tapers away toward the trunk lid, and the drivers fire rearward into the trunk. There are no feet and no baffle clearance gap. ResoNix themselves note there is very little real world difference in sound between down firing and up firing, so the orientation here is an installation decision rather than an acoustic compromise.
Will a standard 10 inch subwoofer fit this enclosure?
No. The openings are cut direct fit to the ResoNix GUS-10 at 235.3mm, and the chamber volume is built around that driver. A standard 10 will not fit the opening and would not see the correct airspace if it did. That is what Performance Optimized means on this line. The enclosure is designed backward from one driver rather than sized to a diameter class.
Why is the gross volume 0.63 cubic feet per chamber but the net acoustic volume 0.60?
Gross volume is the empty chamber. Net acoustic volume is what the driver actually loads into after its own body displaces air. Each GUS-10 displaces 0.031 cubic feet. Each chamber is built at 0.63 cubic feet gross, so after the driver goes in the working airspace is 0.599 cubic feet, which is ResoNix's published 0.60 target. Across two chambers that is 1.26 gross and 1.198 net acoustic. The net figure is the one to enter into a modeling program.
Why not build a bigger box for more low end?
Because on this driver a bigger box does not buy low end. Running ResoNix published parameters, F3 is 35.9 Hz at their 0.35 minimum, 34.2 Hz at the 0.60 target, and 34.8 Hz at their 0.90 maximum. The largest recommended volume is actually slightly higher than this one. Volume changes the character of the response, not how deep it plays, so going bigger trades a maximally flat alignment for an overdamped one and returns nothing on the bottom end.
Is this a common chamber or dual chamber enclosure?
Dual chamber. A full divider separates the two 0.63 cubic foot chambers and there is no shared airspace between them. Each driver loads independently, so one cone's motion does not modulate the air load the other driver sees under hard excursion. That is an acoustic separation, which is the one that matters for how the pair behaves.
Why does a dual enclosure have only one terminal cup?
One cup is the standard across the Proline X wedge range, and it is not related to how many chambers the cabinet has. A second cup gets added only when the driver's power rating makes splitting the load across two terminal sets the safer choice under sustained output, and at that power level there is often a reason to run a separate amplifier on each subwoofer. The GUS-10 at 500 watts RMS each does not need either. The GUS-15, at 1500 watts each, does, which is why the dual 15 wedge is built with two. This is an enclosure only product, so how the drivers are wired from the cup is left entirely to the installer.
What clearance do the GUS-10s need in front of the drivers?
ResoNix specifies 23mm minimum clearance in front of each GUS-10, measured from the height of the surround. At 18mm of Klippel verified one way excursion, that is the operational envelope of the suspension rather than optional headroom. Since the drivers fire rearward into the trunk, this is also a cargo question. Anything loaded behind the enclosure needs to stay outside that envelope, and both positions should be verified independently.
Does this include the ResoNix GUS-10 subwoofers?
No. This is an enclosure only product and the two GUS-10 drivers are purchased separately from ResoNix Sound Solutions. The enclosure ships with 8/32 threaded inserts installed at both positions, stainless machine screws, two pre wired terminal cups, and polyfill wall lining already installed. Audio Intensity is the exclusive enclosure builder for the ResoNix GUS platform.
