This enclosure holds 0.60 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO12 runs a system Qtc of 0.86 with half power at 41.4 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1600 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1787 W — +186 W, or 12 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

At 51.0 the thinPRO12 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1600 W, reached first at 27 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1787 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 12 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

The thinPRO 12 is Wavtech's published optimal sealed volume target: 0.6 cubic feet. This enclosure hits that number exactly. That is not common in the Micro Series category. Most shallow-mount boxes are built to approximate volumes and sold as universal fits across multiple driver models. The M12-S WAV is built to one spec, for one driver, and the internal volume reflects that. The acoustic performance you model for this driver in this box is the performance you get.

The 1.5-inch front baffle is the structural story on this enclosure. That is a double-layer stack-fab build at the baffle, three CNC-cut Langboard Elite panels bonded in offset layers. At 750 watts RMS, the thinPRO 12 generates sustained excursion that loads the baffle hard on every transient. A single 3/4" panel at this driver size and power level will resonate. two bonded layers will not. The baffle is the highest-stress panel in any enclosure. This one is overbuilt relative to the driver's requirements, which is where you want to be.

The thinPRO 12 has a low Fs, published at 25-26 Hz depending on the impedance variant, and a Qts in the 0.46-0.49 range. At 0.6 cubic feet sealed, the system Qtc works out near 0.94. That is on the elevated side of neutral, which for a 12-inch driver in a compact sealed application produces good cabin gain compensation and a useful low-frequency extension curve in real-world vehicle acoustics. If you are targeting a flat anechoic response this is not the right enclosure approach, but for truck cabs, SUVs, and trunk installs where cabin gain fills in the low-end rolloff, 0.94 Qtc works. The bass is musical and impactful without the upper-bass bloom that comes from overdamped systems in boxes that are too large.

The 4.5-inch total depth means this goes places a standard 12-inch sealed build cannot. A conventional 12-inch sealed box at 0.6 cubic feet runs 10-12 inches deep minimum. The M12-S WAV runs 4.5. Behind the rear seat of a crew cab or extended cab full-size truck, that is the difference between fitting and not fitting. Width at 26.5 inches covers most truck cabs without modification. Height at 17 inches clears seat floor-to-seat-bottom clearance in most applications.

Questions

Does this enclosure include the Wavtech thinPRO 12 subwoofer?

No. This is an enclosure-only product. It is built specifically for the Wavtech thinPRO12-2 and thinPRO12-4. Customers who already own the driver or are purchasing it separately. Both impedance variants are physically identical and fit this enclosure. The enclosure ships pre-wired with a gold-plated terminal cup, 8/32 threaded inserts, stainless machine screws, and pre-installed polyfill.

Why is 0.60 cubic feet the right volume for the thinPRO 12?

Wavtech publishes 0.60 cubic feet as the optimal sealed volume for the thinPRO 12, with an acceptable range of 0.40–1.0 cubic feet. At 0.60 cubic feet, the system Qtc lands near 0.94 based on the thinPRO 12's published T/S parameters. Slightly elevated above neutral, which produces good low-frequency extension behavior in real-world vehicle cabin environments where cabin gain compensates for the gentle rolloff at the low end. This enclosure delivers exactly 0.60 cubic feet net internal volume, after driver displacement and baffle material are subtracted. It is the only Micro Series 12" build that lands on Wavtech's published optimal target.

What is the front panel thickness and why does it matter?

The front baffle on the M12-S WAV is 1.5 inches thick, a double-layer stack-fab construction using Langboard Elite MDF. The baffle is the highest-stress panel in any sealed enclosure because it carries both the driver's mechanical load and the acoustic pressure differential between the interior and exterior. At 750 watts RMS, the thinPRO 12 generates sustained excursion that loads the baffle on every transient. A single 3/4" panel will flex and resonate at this power level. Three bonded layers at 1.5 inches total will not. The double-layer baffle is a structural specification, not a cosmetic one.

Will this fit behind the seat of my truck?

At 4.5" total depth, this enclosure is designed specifically for behind-seat truck applications. At 26.5" wide and 17" tall, it fits behind the rear seat in most full-size crew cab and extended cab trucks including the Ford F-150, F-250, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500, Sierra, Ram 1500, and Ram 2500. Seat floor clearance and width vary by model and trim. Measure the available space at the front and rear of the install location and confirm the 26.5" width clears any seat track hardware before purchasing.

What is the difference between the thinPRO12-2 and thinPRO12-4?

The thinPRO12-2 has a single 2-ohm voice coil and the thinPRO12-4 has a single 4-ohm voice coil. Both are physically identical, same mounting depth, same cutout diameter, same external dimensions, and both fit this enclosure. Choose the impedance that matches your amplifier's stable load. The thinPRO12-2 at 2 ohms will typically draw more power from a given monoblock amplifier. The thinPRO12-4 at 4 ohms offers broader amplifier compatibility and is often more thermally stable over extended listening sessions.

What mounting hardware is included?

The enclosure ships with 8/32 threaded inserts installed in the baffle and stainless 8/32 machine screws for driver mounting. The driver threads into steel inserts, not MDF. No stripping risk, consistent clamping torque across all mounting points, and the driver can be removed and reinstalled without degrading the mount. This is especially relevant for installers who may need to service or swap the driver over the enclosure's lifespan.

What amplifier power does the thinPRO 12 require?

The Wavtech thinPRO 12 is rated at 750 watts RMS with a recommended amplifier range of 250–750 watts RMS. For the thinPRO12-2 at 2 ohms, pair with a monoblock stable at 2 ohms in the 500–750 watt RMS range. For the thinPRO12-4 at 4 ohms, match the amplifier's 4-ohm output accordingly. Do not significantly exceed 750 watts RMS at the rated impedance. Thermal compression is the thinPRO 12's ceiling, and sustained overpowering in a sealed enclosure accelerates voice coil failure. Monoblock amplifiers from the Audio Intensity collection can be filtered by stable impedance and output to find the correct match.

Can a different 12" subwoofer be used in this enclosure?

The M12-S WAV uses a standard 12" cutout diameter and delivers 0.60 cubic feet of net internal volume. Other 12" subwoofers that require a similar sealed volume and have a max mounting depth of 3 inches or less may physically fit, but acoustic performance will only be correct if the driver's Thiele-Small parameters target the same enclosure volume. Before substituting a different driver, verify its recommended sealed enclosure volume against this enclosure's 0.60 cubic foot spec and confirm its mounting depth against the 4.5" total enclosure depth.
