This enclosure holds 0.60 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO12 runs a system Qtc of 0.86 with half power at 41.4 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1600 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1787 W — +186 W, or 12 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

At 51.0 the thinPRO12 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 26.0 Hz free-air to 48 Hz and half power lands at 41.4 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1600 W, reached first at 27 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1787 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 12 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

The dual thinPRO 12 in an 8" deep enclosure is the product that ends the conversation about shallow-mount limitations. Two 12" competition-grade drivers running 1,500W combined in a system that fits in a trunk floor at 8" deep: there is no conventional dual 12" setup that comes close to this footprint. The 5" voice coils and strontium magnet motors are what make it work. This is not two budget shallow drivers in a box.

The impedance selection at checkout drives the amplifier conversation more than anything else on this product. Know your amplifier before you order. The 1-ohm option gives you the most power from a high-output monoblock but requires an amplifier explicitly rated for 1-ohm operation, not all amps that claim 1-ohm are thermally stable at sustained power. The 2-ohm option is the broadest match for quality Class D monoblocks. The 4-ohm option is the safest electrical choice but requires a monoblock with strong 4-ohm output ratings to hit the power ceiling these drivers need.

At 29" wide and 15" deep, measure your trunk floor before ordering. This is a significant footprint even at 8" tall.

Questions

What subwoofers fit this enclosure?

This enclosure is engineered specifically for the Wavtech thinPRO12. It accommodates both the thinPRO12-2 (Single 2Ω) and thinPRO12-4 (Single 4Ω) variants. The 0.60 ft³ per chamber sealed volume is Wavtech's published optimal airspace for this driver. Using a different 12" driver is possible but the enclosure is not optimized for anything other than the thinPRO12.

What impedance does this system present to my amplifier?

It depends on which thinPRO12 variant you choose and how you wire them. Two thinPRO12-2 (Single 2Ω) drivers wired in parallel present a 1Ω final load. Two thinPRO12-4 (Single 4Ω) drivers wired in parallel present a 2Ω final load. Verify your amplifier's minimum impedance rating before selecting your driver variant and finalizing your wiring configuration.

What amplifier power do I need for this system?

Target 1000–1500W RMS total for the pair. 500–750W per driver. The thinPRO12 is rated for 750W RMS each. Running them near but not at that ceiling keeps distortion low and the drivers running cool. A Class D monoblock rated for 1000–1500W at your final load impedance (1Ω or 2Ω depending on driver variant and wiring) is the right category of amplifier for this system.

Will this enclosure fit behind the seat of a full-size truck?

In most cases, yes. At 29" wide and 8" deep, the enclosure is designed for exactly this kind of application. Measure your available floor space behind the seat before ordering, the 29" width is the dimension most likely to be a constraint depending on cab configuration. The 8" depth is what makes this viable in a behind-seat install where a conventional dual 12" box would not fit.

Can I install this in a down-firing orientation?

Yes. The enclosure supports both standard and down-firing orientations. Down-firing can improve bass coupling with the vehicle floor in certain install configurations, particularly under-seat or cargo area installs. Optional feet for down-firing conversion are available separately.

How does the custom graphics acrylic option work?

Select Option B at checkout. After your order is placed, email your artwork file to us and we will handle the rest. We will confirm receipt and let you know if any adjustments are needed for production. The panel is gloss black with your graphics applied to the front face.

What is the lead time and how does shipping work?

This enclosure is built to order at our Tullahoma, Tennessee facility. Allow 2–5 business days for production before it ships. Shipping to the lower 48 states is included in the price. No freight charges added at checkout. You will receive a tracking number when the order ships.

What does the acrylic front panel look like?

The acrylic front panel is gloss black with the design applied to the front face, white Wavtech logo on Option B, or your custom artwork on Option C. The panel is not backlit or illuminated. Option A ships without an acrylic panel. Plush black carpet face only.
