Installer's take
The dual wedge format solves a specific problem: two 12" drivers in a trunk where a rectangular dual enclosure is too tall or too deep to fit correctly against the rear seat. The 28" width covers most full-size sedan trunks side to side. The 14.5" height is the dimension to measure first, check your available trunk height from the floor to the bottom of the rear deck before ordering, particularly in vehicles with low deck lids or underfloor spare tire wells.
Orientation is critical. The 8.5" shallow edge goes against the rear seat. The 13.75" deep edge sits on the trunk floor. Get that backwards and you lose the entire space-saving advantage of the wedge geometry. Verify orientation before final installation.
Wiring two 12" drivers gives you impedance options. Two Single 2Ω drivers wired in parallel gives you a 1Ω final load. Two Single 4Ω drivers wired in parallel gives you 2Ω. Two Single 2Ω drivers wired in series gives you 4Ω. Confirm your amplifier's stable impedance before selecting your driver configuration.

Construction

Dado & V Cut Construction for Maximum Strength
Our 12-inch car audio box features innovative Dado and V Cut construction techniques. These precise woodworking methods securely interlock panels, significantly increasing overall box strength and durability. This enhanced structure dramatically reduces unwanted resonance and vibration, delivering cleaner and more precise bass. Your sealed bass enclosure will effortlessly handle powerful subwoofers, providing reliable performance and longevity, ensuring you enjoy superior audio quality consistently.

Preassembled with Titebond II Wood Glue
Every compact subwoofer enclosure is carefully preassembled using Titebond II wood glue, a high-quality adhesive known for its exceptional bonding strength and moisture resistance. This meticulous application creates an airtight seal, minimizing air leaks and enhancing acoustic efficiency. The preassembly ensures durability and consistency, resulting in superior bass performance and reliable long-term use, ideally suited for demanding audio environments.

Rounded Corners for Easy Installation
Designed with rounded corners, our sealed sub-box 12-inch enclosure ensures hassle-free installation in various vehicle types. Rounded corners provide a clean, modern aesthetic and prevent snagging or damage during installation, especially in compact spaces. This practical design approach simplifies placement and ensures your enclosure fits securely and attractively into your vehicle, enhancing both form and function.

Custom Terminal Cup with Pre-Installed Wiring
Our sealed subwoofer enclosure includes a high-power custom terminal cup prewired with premium 12-gauge OFC speaker wire. This feature ensures exceptional electrical performance and durability by utilizing corrosion-resistant stainless steel hardware. Pre-installed wiring significantly simplifies the installation process, allowing you to connect your subwoofer quickly and enjoy enhanced audio quality immediately. This user-friendly approach guarantees professional-level results without the complexity.
Questions
Do both drivers in the P12-WDS III share the same chamber?
Yes. Both drivers share a single common sealed chamber of 2.0 ft³. Internal bracing runs throughout the enclosure to control panel resonance and maintain structural integrity across the full 28" width, but there is no divider wall creating separate acoustic spaces. Both drivers work against the same sealed air mass in a common chamber.
What makes a wedge enclosure different from a standard rectangular enclosure?
A wedge enclosure has a tapered profile, one side is shallower than the other. On the P12-WDS III the top measures 8.5" deep and the bottom measures 13.75" deep. That taper matches the natural recline angle of most modern rear seats, so the enclosure nestles flush against the seatback instead of leaving a triangular air gap behind it. The internal volume is identical to a rectangular enclosure of the same acoustic spec: the space savings come from the geometry, not from compromising the airspace the drivers need.
Which direction does the wedge need to be installed?
The shallow edge (8.5") goes against the rear seat. The deep edge (13.75") sits on the trunk floor. This is the orientation that produces the space-saving benefit, the taper follows the angle of the rear seatback, eliminating the triangular void that forms behind a rectangular enclosure. Installing it with the deep edge against the seat defeats the purpose of the wedge geometry entirely. Verify orientation before final installation.
What subwoofers are compatible with the P12-WDS III?
Any 12" subwoofer with a cutout diameter at or below 11.13" and a mounting depth at or below 8.5" will fit the P12-WDS III. Both drivers share a common 2.0 ft³ sealed chamber. Verify your specific driver's published cutout diameter and mounting depth before ordering. If you need help confirming compatibility with a specific driver, contact us before purchasing. See the single driver version here: [LINK: /products/proline-x-p12-ws-iii-single-12-sealed-wedge-enclosure].
How should I wire two 12" drivers in this enclosure?
Wiring depends on the voice coil impedance of the drivers you are running and the impedance your amplifier is stable at.
What is the difference between the Dark Gray Trunkliner and Plush Black finish options?
Both variants are built to the same construction standard, same Langboard Elite MDF, same joinery, same internal volume, same terminal cup. The difference is finish material only. Dark Gray Trunkliner is a textured spray-on coating well suited to utility installs and vehicles with gray or charcoal interiors. Plush Black is a carpet finish suited to traditional audio installs and black interiors. Acoustic performance is identical between the two.
How does the P12-WDS III compare to the single P12-WS III?
The P12-WS III is a single driver enclosure: one 12" driver in 1.0 ft³ net sealed in a 16" wide footprint. See it here: [LINK: /products/proline-x-p12-ws-iii-single-12-sealed-wedge-enclosure]. The P12-WDS III steps up to two drivers in a common 2.0 ft³ sealed chamber in a 28" wide footprint. Both use the same Langboard Elite MDF, V-groove and dado joinery, Proline X terminal cup, and wedge geometry. The choice comes down to how many drivers your build requires and whether your trunk accommodates the additional 12" of width.
How does the P12-WDS III ship and how long does delivery take?
The P12-WDS III ships UPS Ground to the contiguous 48 states. Shipping is included in the price. There is no freight line item at checkout. Allow 2–5 business days for final assembly and finishing before it ships. Inspect the package before signing for delivery and photograph any exterior damage before opening.
