Installer's take

The wedge format is the right call any time the rear seat angle is eating your trunk depth. Most compact and midsize sedans have 20 to 25 degrees of seat recline. That translates directly to wasted space behind a rectangular box. The P12-WS III closes that gap.

Orientation is critical. The 8.5" shallow edge goes against the rear seat. The 13.75" deep edge sits on the trunk floor. Get that backwards and you lose the entire point of the wedge geometry. Verify your orientation before final installation.

At 16" wide this enclosure fits the majority of compact and midsize sedan trunks without side clearance issues. The 14.5" height is the dimension most likely to be the limiting factor, measure your available trunk height before ordering, particularly in vehicles with low deck lids or underfloor spare tire wells that reduce usable trunk height.

At 11.13" cutout and 8.5" max mounting depth this enclosure covers the majority of the 12" driver market. Verify your specific driver's published cutout and depth specs before ordering.

Shipping is included. No freight line item at checkout. Allow 2–5 business days for assembly and finishing before it ships.

Construction

Dado & V Cut Construction for Maximum Strength

Dado & V Cut Construction for Maximum Strength

Our 12-inch car audio box features innovative Dado and V Cut construction techniques. These precise woodworking methods securely interlock panels, significantly increasing overall box strength and durability. This enhanced structure dramatically reduces unwanted resonance and vibration, delivering cleaner and more precise bass. Your sealed bass enclosure will effortlessly handle powerful subwoofers, providing reliable performance and longevity, ensuring you enjoy superior audio quality consistently.

Preassembled with Titebond II Wood Glue

Preassembled with Titebond II Wood Glue

Every compact subwoofer enclosure is carefully preassembled using Titebond II wood glue, a high-quality adhesive known for its exceptional bonding strength and moisture resistance. This meticulous application creates an airtight seal, minimizing air leaks and enhancing acoustic efficiency. The preassembly ensures durability and consistency, resulting in superior bass performance and reliable long-term use, ideally suited for demanding audio environments.

Rounded Corners for Easy Installation

Rounded Corners for Easy Installation

Designed with rounded corners, our sealed sub-box 12-inch enclosure ensures hassle-free installation in various vehicle types. Rounded corners provide a clean, modern aesthetic and prevent snagging or damage during installation, especially in compact spaces. This practical design approach simplifies placement and ensures your enclosure fits securely and attractively into your vehicle, enhancing both form and function.

Custom Terminal Cup with Pre-Installed Wiring

Custom Terminal Cup with Pre-Installed Wiring

Our sealed subwoofer enclosure includes a high-power custom terminal cup prewired with premium 12-gauge OFC speaker wire. This feature ensures exceptional electrical performance and durability by utilizing corrosion-resistant stainless steel hardware. Pre-installed wiring significantly simplifies the installation process, allowing you to connect your subwoofer quickly and enjoy enhanced audio quality immediately. This user-friendly approach guarantees professional-level results without the complexity.

Questions

What makes a wedge enclosure different from a standard rectangular enclosure?

A wedge enclosure has a tapered profile, one side is shallower than the other. On the P12-WS III the top measures 8.5" deep and the bottom measures 13.75" deep. That taper matches the natural recline angle of most modern rear seats, so the enclosure nestles flush against the seatback instead of leaving a triangular air gap behind it. The internal volume is identical to a rectangular enclosure of the same acoustic spec: the space savings come from the geometry, not from compromising the airspace the driver needs.

Does the wedge shape affect the sound quality compared to a rectangular sealed enclosure?

No. The sealed alignment is determined by net internal volume, 1.0 ft³ in this case, and the driver's Thiele-Small parameters. The external shape of the enclosure does not change the acoustic load presented to the driver. The P12-WS III delivers the same sealed performance as a rectangular enclosure of identical volume. The wedge geometry is a fitment solution, not an acoustic compromise.

Which direction does the wedge need to be installed?

The shallow edge (8.5") goes against the rear seat. The deep edge (13.75") sits on the trunk floor. This is the orientation that produces the space-saving benefit, the taper follows the angle of the rear seatback, eliminating the triangular void that forms behind a rectangular enclosure. Installing it with the deep edge against the seat defeats the purpose of the wedge geometry entirely. Verify orientation before final installation.

What subwoofers are compatible with the P12-WS III?

Any 12" subwoofer with a cutout diameter at or below 11.13" and a mounting depth at or below 8.5" will fit the P12-WS III. The 1.0 ft³ net sealed volume falls in the middle of the optimal sealed range for the vast majority of 12" drivers on the market, making this enclosure broadly compatible. Verify your specific driver's published cutout diameter and mounting depth before ordering. If you need help confirming compatibility with a specific driver, contact us before purchasing.

What is the difference between the Dark Gray Trunkliner and Plush Black finish options?

Both variants are built to the same construction standard, same Langboard Elite MDF, same joinery, same internal volume, same terminal cup. The difference is finish material only. Dark Gray Trunkliner is a textured spray-on coating well suited to utility installs and vehicles with gray or charcoal interiors. Plush Black is a carpet finish suited to traditional audio installs and black interiors. Acoustic performance is identical between the two.

How does the P12-WS III compare to the P10-WS III wedge enclosure?

The P10-WS III is built for a single 10" driver at 0.70 ft³ net sealed in a 14.5" wide footprint with an 8" max mounting depth. The P12-WS III steps up to a single 12" driver at 1.0 ft³ net sealed in a 16" wide footprint with an 8.5" max mounting depth and a deeper overall profile at 13.75" on the bottom edge. Both use the same Langboard Elite MDF, V-groove and dado joinery, and Proline X terminal cup. If you are running a 10" driver, see the Proline X P10-WS III at [LINK: /products/proline-x-p10-ws-iii-single-10-sealed-wedge-enclosure].

Is this enclosure suitable for ported subwoofer builds?

No. The P12-WS III is a sealed enclosure. There is no port. Running a driver that requires a ported alignment in a sealed enclosure will produce suboptimal results, reduced output efficiency, increased power compression, and potentially excessive excursion below the driver's resonant frequency. If you need a ported enclosure for a 12" driver, see the Proline X Performance Series ported options at [LINK: /collections/subwoofer-enclosures].

How does the P12-WS III ship and how long does delivery take?

The P12-WS III ships UPS Ground to the contiguous 48 states. Shipping is included in the price. There is no freight line item at checkout. Allow 2–5 business days for final assembly and finishing before it ships. Inspect the package before signing for delivery and photograph any exterior damage before opening.
