Installer's take

The P8-P V3 is where we go when a customer wants their 8-inch sub to actually move some air. Unlike generic ported boxes that are tuned too high and sound "peaky," the 36Hz tuning on this Proline X box is incredibly musical while still providing that deep rumble. The 3/4" MDF construction is overkill for an 8" box in the best way possible. Zero cabinet flex means all that energy goes into the cabin. I've found this box works perfectly for modern high-excursion 8s that have 400W+ RMS power handling; it gives them the room they need to breathe and stay cool during long demo sessions.

Questions

Why choose a ported enclosure over sealed for an 8" subwoofer?

Ported enclosures deliver more low-frequency output and efficiency than sealed designs at the same power level. The trade-off is slightly less transient accuracy. For builds prioritizing output, deep bass extension, and high-excursion drivers running real power, ported is the correct choice.

What subwoofers are compatible with the P8-P?

The P8-P requires a cutout diameter of 7.25" and a maximum mounting depth of 6.125". Verify both dimensions against your driver's published specifications before ordering. The enclosure does not include a subwoofer.

What is the tuning frequency and why 36Hz?

The P8-P is tuned at 36Hz. This is intentionally lower than most mass-market 8" ported boxes, which are typically tuned at 40Hz or higher to boost midbass punch. 36Hz extends usable output deeper into the sub-bass range while keeping the driver protected at the port tuning point under sustained power.

What is the net internal volume?

0.75 ft³. This is on the larger end for a single 8" ported enclosure and is sized to give high-excursion drivers the airspace they need to operate efficiently at full power. Verify your specific driver's recommended ported volume before purchasing.

Does the P8-P come pre-wired?

Yes. Every P8-P ships pre-wired with 12g OFC speaker wire. Connect your amplifier output directly to the terminal cup. No additional wiring or assembly required.

How does V3 differ from V2?

V3 introduces V-groove and dado joinery replacing standard butt joints, increased internal bracing, a new in-house built ABS/Carbon Fiber Composite terminal cup with recessed mount and copper ring terminals, stainless steel hardware, aluminum landing plates, and pre-wired 12g OFC speaker wire. V2 units are closeout only.

Will the P8-P fit in my vehicle?

External dimensions are 19" W x 11" H x 13" D. The 19" width is the critical fitment dimension for most installs. Measure your cargo area before ordering. Particularly width and depth from the back seat to the rear of the cargo floor.

What finish options are available?

Both use the same Langboard Elite MDF and full V3 build spec.
