Installer's take
The 36Hz tuning on this enclosure is the right call for a dual 8" ported build. You get usable output down into the low 30s without the port velocity issues that come with tuning too low on a smaller driver. At 0.75 ft³ per chamber the drivers have enough room to move efficiently without the box working against them. This is not an undersized ported box that chokes output to hit a compact dimension target. The 7.3" max mounting depth is the spec to check before you order. Standard 8" drivers fit without issue. If you are running a higher-excursion motor with a deep basket, measure your mounting depth first, drivers exceeding 7.3" will not clear the baffle. The two independent terminal cups keep the wiring job clean. Each driver gets its own connection point, impedance loads are handled separately, and you are not dealing with internal splices you did not make. At 24" wide this fits across most trunk floors and behind most rear seats. If trunk space is tight, measure the available width before ordering, the P8D-P is noticeably wider than the sealed P8D-S.
Questions
What is the net internal volume per driver bay?
Each driver bay is 0.75 ft³ net. Total enclosure volume is 1.5 ft³. Both chambers are equal and fully separated internally, with a shared slot port tuned to 36Hz.
What is the enclosure tuned to and why does it matter?
The P8D-P is tuned to 36Hz. Tuning frequency sets the point where port output peaks and driver excursion is minimized. At 36Hz you get strong output through the upper bass and into the mid-bass range without the steep rolloff that comes with a higher tuning point. It is a general-purpose tuning that works well with music that spans hip-hop, rock, and electronic, not optimized for a single genre.
Does each driver have its own terminal cup?
No. The P8D-P uses a single terminal cup shared between both drivers. The drivers are wired internally to the cup, which requires both drivers to be run at the same impedance. The terminal cup is an ABS/Carbon Fiber Composite recessed unit with stainless steel hardware and copper ring terminals.
What is the maximum driver mounting depth this enclosure supports?
The P8D-P supports a maximum mounting depth of 7.3". This covers the majority of standard 8" drivers. High-excursion competition drivers with deep baskets may exceed this spec: check your driver's published mounting depth before ordering.
How does the P8D-P compare to the P8D-S sealed version?
The P8D-P is tuned to 36Hz and produces higher output with more low-frequency extension than the sealed P8D-S. The tradeoff is size, the P8D-P is 24" wide versus 19" for the P8D-S, and 16" deep versus 13". If you have the trunk space and want maximum output from dual 8" drivers, the P8D-P is the correct choice. If space is the primary constraint or you need tighter, more accurate bass, the P8D-S sealed is the better fit.
What finish options are available?
Both finishes are available at checkout via the variant selector.
How long does it take to ship?
Proline X enclosures are assembled to order. Allow 2–5 business days for final assembly, bonding, and finishing before your order ships. Shipping is included. No freight charges at checkout.
Is this the V3 version?
Yes. V3 adds V-groove and dado joinery, increased internal bracing, the in-house ABS/Carbon Fiber Composite terminal cup, and pre-wired 12g OFC speaker wire. The V2 version is sold as closeout stock at the original URL while inventory lasts and will redirect to this listing once exhausted.
