Installer's take
When a client asks for "musical" bass that doesn't take up the whole trunk, the P8-S V3 is my go-to. At 0.45 ft³, it provides the perfect amount of air spring for high-end 8-inch drivers like the Image Dynamics IDQ or Arc Audio Arc Series. Because it's a sealed environment, the build quality is even more critical; any air leak ruins the response. Proline X uses interlocking Dado joints that are essentially bulletproof and airtight. In a hatchback or under-seat install, this box disappears physically but adds that missing bottom-end authority with zero overhang or "boominess."
Questions
Why sealed over ported for an 8" subwoofer?
Sealed enclosures provide tighter transient response and more accurate bass reproduction than ported designs. The trade-off is slightly less low-frequency extension and efficiency. For SQ builds, daily drivers prioritizing musicality, or installs where "tight and accurate" matters more than "loud and deep," sealed is the correct choice.
What subwoofers are compatible with the P8-S?
The P8-S requires a cutout diameter of 7.25" and a maximum mounting depth of 6.125". Verify both dimensions against your driver's published specifications before ordering. The enclosure does not include a subwoofer.
Is 0.45 ft³ the right airspace for my 8" driver?
Most high-performance 8" subwoofers recommend between 0.35 and 0.60 ft³ sealed. The P8-S at 0.45 ft³ falls within that range for the majority of premium drivers. Check your specific driver's recommended sealed volume before purchasing.
Does the P8-S come pre-wired?
Yes. Every P8-S ships pre-wired with 12g OFC speaker wire. Connect your amplifier output directly to the terminal cup. No additional wiring or assembly required.
How does V3 differ from V2?
V3 introduces V-groove and dado joinery replacing standard butt joints, increased internal bracing, a new in-house built ABS/Carbon Fiber Composite terminal cup with recessed mount and copper ring terminals, stainless steel hardware, aluminum landing plates, and pre-wired 12g OFC speaker wire. V2 units are closeout only.
Will the P8-S fit under the seat of my truck?
At 13" W x 10" H x 10.5" D, the P8-S is compact but not a shallow-mount solution. Measure your under-seat clearance before ordering. Particularly height and depth, as truck floors are often contoured.
What is the warranty on the P8-S?
The P8-S carries a 1-year limited warranty covering structural failure and manufacturing defects under normal use. It does not cover damage from misuse, improper installation, water exposure, or modifications to the enclosure.
What finish options are available?
Both use the same Langboard Elite MDF and full V3 build spec.
