This enclosure holds 0.63 cu ft net per chamber. In it the ResoNix GUS-10 runs a system Qtc of 0.59–0.68 with half power at 39.5–43.6 Hz, and the cone reaches its 18.0 mm travel limit at 419 W, below the driver’s 500 W thermal rating, so travel is what stops you here, not heat. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 711 W — +292 W, or 70 percent more power for the same 18.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

At 54.4–59.9 the GUS-10 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

The box lifts resonance from 20.4 Hz free-air to 36–38 Hz and half power lands at 39.5–43.6 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 18.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 18.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 419 W, reached first at 20 Hz. It sits under the 500 W the driver can take thermally, so the enclosure sets the ceiling, not the voice coil. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 711 W before hitting the same 18.0 mm. That is 70 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

The GUS-10 is the front subwoofer platform of the moment in the SQ enthusiast space. Fs of 16.91 Hz and Qts of 0.35 put it in the same operating category as the GUS-12, a low-Qts, high-motor-force driver that produces flat anechoic response near 0.707 Qtc in a small sealed enclosure, extending well below 20 Hz. At 4.12 inches of mounting depth and 500 watts RMS it will fit under seats, in passenger footwells, and in tight behind-seat locations where the GUS-12 cannot go. The 6-inch total enclosure depth is the practical advantage of the GUS-10 over the GUS-12 for the tightest installs.

The volume on this enclosure is 0.63 cubic feet net gross. ResoNix's 0.707 Qtc target for the GUS-10 is 0.60 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace, with a driver displacement of 0.031 cubic feet. After the driver is installed, the GUS-10 sees 0.599 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace, effectively hitting ResoNix's target precisely. In a vehicle cabin, the alignment produces the flat, extended response the driver was designed for.

The GUS-10 is engineered for accuracy and deep extension. A Qts of 0.35 produces a flat 0.707 Qtc sealed alignment: extended low-frequency response, low distortion, and reference-grade motor control. This is a front subwoofer and SQ competition driver, not a daily-driver warm-bass alternative. In a vehicle cabin with correct amplifier and crossover configuration, the GUS-10's Klippel-verified 18.37mm one-way Xmax at BL 70% and Fs of 16.91 Hz produce the deepest, cleanest bass output available from any 10" driver at this mounting depth.

For impedance selection. D4 data is published. D2 T/S parameters are not yet finalized by ResoNix. For most builds the D4 wired parallel at 2 ohms into a 2-ohm-stable monoblock delivering 400–500 watts RMS is the correct configuration. The GUS-10's power rating is honest. Do not significantly exceed 500 watts RMS.

The 23mm minimum front clearance applies here the same as the GUS-12 and GUS-15. Verify against seat cushion, cargo cover, or any surface that will be positioned in front of the driver. The GUS-10 is the most compact driver in the series and the most likely to be installed in genuinely tight spaces where this clearance check is critical.

Questions

Does this enclosure include the ResoNix GUS-10 subwoofer?

No. This is an enclosure-only product designed exclusively for the ResoNix GUS-10. The driver must be purchased separately from ResoNix Sound Solutions. Both the D2 and D4 variants fit this enclosure, the cutout and mounting geometry are identical. The enclosure ships pre-wired with the Proline X terminal cup, 8/32 threaded inserts, stainless machine screws, pre-installed polyfill, and rubber feet for downfiring installation.

How does the GUS-10 compare to the GUS-12 in the Micro Series?

Both drivers share the same engineering platform: FEA-optimized overhung motor, patent-pending copper shorting sleeve, copper voice coil, titanium former, Nomex/carbon fiber cone, and vented rear cone assembly. The GUS-10 is smaller in every dimension: 4.12" mounting depth vs 4.59" for the GUS-12, 235.3mm cutout vs 284.6mm, 500W RMS vs 800W RMS, and 18.37mm Xmax vs 20.69mm. The acoustic character of both builds is the same: flat 0.707 Qtc sealed alignment with deep extension and low distortion. The GUS-10 is the correct choice when the 4.12" mounting depth or the 6" total enclosure depth is the deciding constraint. The GUS-12 delivers more output and deeper extension when the space is available.

ResoNix recommends 0.60 cu ft. Why does this enclosure list 0.603?

ResoNix's 0.707 Qtc target for the GUS-10 is 0.60 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace. The GUS-10 has a driver displacement of 0.031 cubic feet. To deliver 0.60 cubic feet net after the driver is installed, the gross chamber volume must be 0.60 + 0.031 = 0.631 cubic feet. This enclosure is built to a gross volume of 0.63 cubic feet. After the driver is installed, each GUS-10 sees 0.599 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace, effectively hitting ResoNix's 0.60 cubic foot target. The 0.63 cu ft figure listed is the net enclosure volume before displacement; the acoustic airspace the driver sees is 0.599 cu ft.

How does the GUS-10 sound in a vehicle cabin at 0.63 cu ft?

The GUS-10 at 0.707 Qtc produces a flat anechoic response with deep low-frequency extension. In a real vehicle cabin, bass frequencies below 80 Hz receive significant gain from acoustic boundaries, which reinforces the driver's deep extension in the listening position. The result is exceptional low-frequency reach, high output at real-world listening levels, and measurably lower distortion than other 10-inch drivers in this depth class thanks to the copper shorting rings, titanium voice coil former, and Klippel-verified motor linearity. This is a front subwoofer and SQ-oriented driver designed to reveal source material accurately.

What is the minimum front clearance required for the GUS-10?

ResoNix specifies a minimum of 23mm of clearance between the top of the GUS-10's surround and whatever surface is in front of the driver. This allows full excursion without mechanical contact. Confirm this against your seat cushion, cargo cover, or any other surface in front of the driver before finalizing your install. In tight under-seat or footwell applications where the GUS-10's compact depth is the reason for choosing it, this clearance check is especially important.

What amplifier does the GUS-10 require?

The GUS-10 is rated at 500 watts RMS. For the D4 wired parallel at 2 ohms, a monoblock stable at 2 ohms delivering 400–500 watts RMS is the correct pairing. For the D2 wired parallel at 1 ohm, an amplifier explicitly rated for sustained 1-ohm operation is required. Do not significantly exceed 500 watts RMS, the GUS-10's thermal ratings are honest and ResoNix is explicit that overpower damage is not covered under warranty.

Can I run this downfiring?

Yes. Rubber feet are included for downfiring. No additional hardware required. The GUS-10 features a vented rear cone assembly that allows the pole vent to be fully obstructed without acoustic penalty, making downfire in tight enclosures viable. ResoNix notes minimal real-world difference between orientations for the GUS series. Choose based on install practicality and verify the 23mm minimum front clearance applies to your vehicle floor surface in the downfire orientation.

Where is this enclosure built?

Every Proline X enclosure is CNC-cut and hand-assembled in Tullahoma, Tennessee on ShopSabre CNC routers. Langboard Elite MDF is used throughout, named, mill-documented, with published density, internal bond, and screw-holding specifications. Internal volume, cutout geometry, dado joint depth, baffle layer count, dowel placement, and terminal positioning are all held to spec on every unit.
