This enclosure holds 0.50 cu ft net per chamber. In it the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 runs a system Qtc of 0.96 with half power at 40.1 Hz, and the cone reaches its 15.2 mm travel limit at 672 W, above the driver’s 400 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 708 W — +36 W, or 5 percent more power for the same 15.2 mm of travel.

The box lifts resonance from 32.3 Hz free-air to 50 Hz and half power lands at 40.1 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 15.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 15.2 mm. Unfiltered that is 672 W, reached first at 34 Hz. It sits above the 400 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 708 W before hitting the same 15.2 mm. That is 5 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

I’ve seen plenty of "shallow" boxes that flex like cardboard as soon as the volume goes up. This isn’t one of them. The Proline X Micro Series is arguably the best pre-built housing for the 10TW3 on the market. The CNC-cut dado joints are so tight you barely need the glue. It’s built like a tank. At 5.25 inches deep, it fits in the "dead space" of most trunks, and the 0.5 cu ft volume is the exact sweet spot for that JL driver.

Questions

Does this enclosure include the JL Audio 10TW3 subwoofer?

No. This listing is for the Proline X Micro Series enclosure only. It is designed specifically for those who already own or are separately purchasing a JL Audio 10TW3-D4 or 10TW3-D8.

Will this box fit behind the seat of my truck?

With a total depth of only 5.25 inches, this enclosure is designed specifically for tight spaces. We recommend measuring the depth at the top and bottom of your intended mounting location to ensure clearance.

Why is "Stack Fab" construction better than a standard box?

Stack Fab involves CNC-cutting and layering MDF to create much stronger joints and more rigid walls. This eliminates panel resonance (vibration), ensuring that all the energy from the subwoofer is converted into sound rather than vibrating the box.

Does the box come pre-wired?

Yes. The enclosure includes a high-quality terminal cup pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) wire, ready to be connected to your 10TW3 subwoofer.

Can I use a different brand of shallow subwoofer in this box?

While the box features a larger than standard 10-inch cutout, the internal volume, mounting flange and mounting depth are optimized specifically for the JL Audio 10TW3. Other subwoofers may fit, but check their required airspace and mounting depth against our specs.

Is the carpet durable enough for a trunk environment?

Yes, the enclosure is wrapped in a heavy-duty, plush black automotive carpet designed to resist wear and blend seamlessly with most vehicle interiors.

Do I need to add polyfill to the inside of the box?

Polyfill has already been installed in this enclosure.

What is the benefit of a sealed enclosure for the 10TW3?

A sealed enclosure provides the flattest frequency response and the best transient response (speed). It allows the 10TW3 to play deep while maintaining the "tight" bass that JL Audio is known for.
