Installer's take
The thinPRO 10 is not a typical shallow-mount driver. At 750 watts RMS from 2.9 inches of mounting depth, it generates internal pressure levels that most compact enclosures are simply not built to handle structurally. The stack-fab construction on the M10-S WAV exists specifically to address that. Panel mass in a 4.5-inch-deep box is a real constraint. You have limited wall width to work with, which means resonance control has to come from density and joint integrity rather than geometry alone. The downfiring option is underutilized on this platform. In extended cab and crew cab truck installs, placing the M10-S WAV behind the seat in downfire orientation couples the driver output directly to the floor, which acts as a large-area radiating surface. The perceived bass response in the cabin is often fuller and more evenly distributed than front-firing placement against a wall. The rubber feet are included in the box. No additional hardware or mounts required to run it this way. The threaded inserts and included stainless square-bit screws are a feature that matters more than most product listings acknowledge. A 750-watt driver generates sustained vibration at the baffle interface. Wood screws in MDF will loosen over a season of regular use. The threaded insert system holds torque consistently across repeated cycles. If you ever need to pull the driver for service or impedance swap, the mount is as solid on reinstall as it was on first installation.
Questions
What is the difference between front-firing and downfiring installation?
Front-firing positions the subwoofer cone facing outward toward the cabin, which is the standard orientation for most trunk and cargo-area installs. Downfiring points the cone toward the vehicle floor, using the floor surface as an acoustic radiator. In truck cabs and SUVs, downfiring couples bass energy directly into the floor and distributes low-frequency output more evenly throughout the cabin, which often produces a fuller perceived bass response. The M10-S WAV includes rubber feet for downfiring use. No additional hardware is required. Orientation is determined by which direction produces the best result in your specific vehicle.
What is the difference between the thinPRO10-2 and thinPRO10-4?
The thinPRO10-2 has a single 2-ohm voice coil and the thinPRO10-4 has a single 4-ohm voice coil. Both are physically identical, same mounting depth, same cutout diameter, same external dimensions, and both fit this enclosure. The impedance you choose should match your amplifier's stable load. The thinPRO10-2 wired to a 2-ohm-stable monoblock will typically deliver slightly more power output from the same amplifier than the thinPRO10-4 at 4 ohms. The thinPRO10-4 offers broader amplifier compatibility and is often more stable over temperature on amplifiers with less robust power supplies.
Why does a shallow enclosure need stack-fab construction?
At 4.5 inches of total depth, each panel wall has limited geometric rigidity compared to the same panel in a standard-depth box. Thinner effective wall sections flex more easily under internal pressure, and panel flex introduces acoustic coloration, the box itself radiates sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the driver's output. Stack-fab construction addresses this by layering and bonding CNC-cut MDF panels in overlapping orientations, increasing effective panel mass and eliminating single-layer glue joints at critical surfaces. Combined with Langboard Elite MDF's published 200 psi internal bond rating, the result is a structure that stays acoustically inert at the power levels the thinPRO 10 is capable of generating.
What is included with the enclosure?
The M10-S WAV ships with everything required for installation: a pre-wired gold-plated terminal cup with stainless hardware, 8/32 threaded inserts installed in the baffle, stainless 8/32 square-bit machine screws for driver mounting, pre-installed polyfill, and rubber feet for downfiring configuration. The Wavtech thinPRO 10 subwoofer is not included and must be purchased separately.
Will the M10-S WAV fit under the rear seat of a crew cab or extended cab truck?
At 4.5" total depth, the M10-S WAV is specifically designed for under-seat truck applications. It fits behind the seat in most full-size crew cab and extended cab trucks including Ford F-150, F-250, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500, and Ram 2500 configurations. Seat floor clearance varies across models and trim levels. Measure the available depth at the front and rear of the install location before purchasing. The 24" width and 12.75" height should also be confirmed against available space. Downfiring orientation behind the seat is particularly effective in these applications.
What amplifier power does the thinPRO 10 require?
The Wavtech thinPRO 10 is rated at 750 watts RMS continuous. Wavtech recommends amplifier power in the 375–750 watt RMS range at the driver's nominal impedance. For the thinPRO10-2 at 2 ohms, a monoblock stable at 2 ohms in the 500–750 watt RMS range is the practical target. For the thinPRO10-4 at 4 ohms, match accordingly. Do not significantly exceed 750 watts RMS, the thinPRO 10's thermal limits are the ceiling, and overpowering a shallow-mount driver in a sealed box at elevated temperatures is the primary failure mode. Monoblock amplifiers from the Audio Intensity collection can be filtered by stable impedance and output to find the appropriate match.
Can a different 10" shallow-mount subwoofer be used in this enclosure?
The M10-S WAV is machined to the thinPRO 10's specific cutout diameter and built to a 0.4 cubic foot net volume optimized for that driver's T/S parameters. Other 10" shallow-mount subwoofers may physically fit the cutout but are likely to require different internal volumes. Using a driver with a significantly different Vas or Qts in this enclosure will produce a Qtc that deviates from that driver's design target, which degrades bass accuracy and transient response. Verify any alternative driver's recommended sealed enclosure volume against this enclosure's 0.4 cubic foot spec before attempting a substitution.
Where is the Proline X M10-S WAV built?
The M10-S WAV is CNC-cut and hand-assembled in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Panels are machined on ShopSabre CNC routers, which hold dimensional tolerances that manual fabrication cannot replicate consistently across a production run. Langboard Elite MDF is used throughout, a named, mill-documented panel with published density, internal bond, and screw-holding specifications. Proline X is the enclosure brand owned and manufactured by Audio Intensity.
